Cup Holder Useless?

Anyone else feel like the cupholder that's built in below the armrest is useless for anything like a bottle or something that's not a can? I don't even know why they bothered to taper the armrest off.

Even a can is hard to get to. Is there a way to move the armrest out of the way or am I missing something?

Ummm yeah, you tilt it upwards and leave it standing vertically if you want to use that cup holder.

lol....I was hoping you were going to say, yes there's a button and it slides backwards or something!

I guess I miss this feature from my TL-S...but it's a cup holder. The rest of the car is great.

It's a handling/cornering machine...do you know what happens to drinks when you corner hard? Yeah exactly...that's why the cup holder was placed under the arm rest...I don't think it's meant to be used

I wish they made a cover for the cup holders so I wouldn't have to look at them or clean dust out of them. Mine never get used.

The one is removable right? Where's the other one. Can't be that bothersome.

It's for us Yanks drinking the 7Eleven Big Gulps LOL Yeah, that this is not only fugly, it's useless. First mod on the car was tossing it out

BTW. IIRC some folks had modified the stem and mounted their portable NAVs on it. Somewhat out of the way and perhaps distracting but still better use than a cupholder.

That cup holder will hold a 1/2 pint bottle of water. It is still hard to get it in and out but it will work. 1/2 pint is not a lot but it's a lot better than nothing if you are thirsty.

My 1M is a DD so I need someplace for my morning coffee. Since my (spillproof) go-cup is too tall for the center console cupholder I retrofit the removable one that comes on cars with Nav. It works great but if I were to do it all over again, I'd just spend the extra €110 and get a replacement center console with the hole already in it, lol.

Mine came with a cup-holder that mounts just next to the shifter. I originally removed it since I thought my knuckles would bump it, but it didn't so I put it back in and it holds my covered mug very well. The arm-rest holder is useless. I keep my round chewing gum in that receptacle. Seeing as there is an iPhone-sized case mounted inside the armrest, I find very little use for it.

No cover, yet using part 1, you will not have to look at nor clean them
