That stand alone cup holder is removable on the passenger side? Have one on the new to me 128 and have no clue how to remove it, nothing obvious.

Yes, the cup holder is removable. It is just a press-fit.

You can buy the cup holder kit and retrofit it in. Just Google "135i cup holder install" and the second link should be a PDF that outlines the install.

I was happy mine didn't have it as I don't care for the look= looks like a pep-boys add on and definitely wouldn't drill holes in the console for install.

Yeah, but it works far better than the other one(s).

I agree. Why do I need more than 1 cup holder?

Also a small hydro flask water bottle fits in the cubby where the ash tray goes.

Most cup holders are garbage and older Porsche-Audi are some of the worse being over the radio/console. I personally do not eat or drink in my nicer cars, but of course its different when used for commuting/work. My wife's Rav4 is the go to car as its dependable and expendable lol.

It is definitely possible, I've done it twice (once in two different 128s). It is not difficult but you have to remove the console which means pulling out a lot of stuff. You have to cut a hole in the console which made me a bit nervous, more so on the car I didn't own. The spot for the cup holder is fairly obvious when you turn the console over, however.

I use it every day to hold my coffee on the way to work. Definitely better than the two stock cup holders, but the short one holds a mini water bottle.
