What are the benefits/ dangers of washing it in the dishwasher on low temp? It's freaking cold here and I don't want to freeze to death washing it outside.

Biggest danger of washing car parts in the dishwasher would be pissing off your significant other, if you have one. At least in my world...

When I was disassembling it oil poured out of the vent hose in the bottom, and it was dusty and gritty feeling so I'm just gonna do it while I'm waiting on the gaskets.

LOL, yeah I don't know how she feels about it, I was just planning on doing it while she was at work and then running a cleaning cycle after words. I may just clean it by hand to save the argument.....

Theoretically, the dishwasher with no soap doesn't seem too bad, but I don't think it is something I would do.

Smile

When I was racing Showroom Stock, eons ago, some of us cooked new pads in a toaster oven to not lose as much valuable track time breaking them in. I thought about using the one at home. What could go wrong?

And then went out and bought a cheap one for that use.

Nice thread about using household stuff for auto work here. I particularly like " Soon, I'm getting my very own house..."

Has anyone heard about BPM tuning? A friend of mine has hit m3 tuned through them and he highly recommended them. Just wanted to know if anyone had heard of them?

e39 guys ddid the dishwasher route for their tu manifold swaps. I consulted these before cleaning, they all pretty much used dish soap & water hoses.
With the midtxure inside the manifold I would shake the manifold several times. Than refill and rotate

As for BMP sport, Here is a link to their e90 m3
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=748613

Its worth an experiment if they can make you a stage 2 software for a reasonable price, and explain to you the option of going to headers

I'm going with evolve. I haven't heard a bad thing about them yet and I'd rather not expiriment when I don't need to. Unless the BPM is significantly cheaper, which I really doubt, and make more power and no disa bumps, I don't see a reason to stray from evolve.

Yup. Let someone else experiment.

And it came out perfect! It was very warm, which made me concerned about the glue holding the manifold together, but all is well. All cleaned up and ready for install! I just put the temp at its lowest setting, 50*C, and ran it through a full cycle. Now I'm cleaning the dishwasher to get the oil smell out. No oil in the washer, but still smelled of car parts. Which I one of my favorite smells, but not the misses'!

It's not like engine bays are known for their coldness.

Yep I'm ordering the tune on the 1st. I am currently borrowing a 2012 race built STI. Makes 480 AWHP at 20psi of boost. Fun fun! ( I mean literally it's a race built sti. No rubber bushings or soft suspension. Full alinimum mounts and bushings, kW COILOVERS, body bracing everywhere, built forged internals with garret 2876r turbo with all supporting mods, fidanza flywheel with spec stage 4 clutch, you get the point!)

Haha I make fun of those guys all the time, always needing built motors to make that much power! But who? I think I may know lol. Alex? Mo? Christian? Does he own a skyline now? I think he just picked one up a few months ago. Is the STI Blue?

How about a before and after dyno. You say you're going with Evolve, who have all of maybe 2 dynos in the forums, because you don't want to experiment. Ok.

We know how much power a stock 128i puts down. It has been done before and I'm not going to waste my money to repeat it. I've seen a stock dyno of a 328i putting down 198hp at the wheels on E90 post.

Kobeballer it's a blue sedan and belongs to my friend Victor.

I think Chris and Ian brought him to the track once! That's nice of him to let you borrow it meanwhile.
