What are the symptoms?

Is it on flatbed to the mechanic's or is it still drivable?

Fan is on 100%
Power is cut
Oil temp is normal
Coolant level is normal
Warning on dash to drive moderately then warning changes to red ! To turn off the engine as its too hot
I checked this forum, same symptoms on the 335 , also checked youtube a found a few videos of the sound of a failed pump and it sounds similar

Ouch, this is going to cost you a bit!

Pump, new bolts and thermostat is about $600ish delivered from ECS by memory..

I have an 06 335i with 80k kays, and am going to replace mine as preventive maintenance!

Pump, Thermostat and 5L coolant = $714 shipped from ECS. Labour = $300.
It doesn't give any warnings or symptoms. You get the overheating warnings (amber followed by red) once it's dead. If the car has done about 80k, it should be changed before it fails!

665 for pump only? It's better to change the thermostat while you're at it!
175 labour is very reasonable. who quoted you that? Bromspec Brookvale?

I paid $1,450 for a waterpump and thermo replacement at Advan. it died at 78,000kms. Bromspec did the original inspection on my car but because they are too far away i have been going to Advan, it may be worth the trip to the northern beaches.

Thats really cheap. Like others said just make sure you did the Thermostat together at the same time for preventive measures.

I had mine failed on my 3 months ago when I had 112k on the car. Was still on the original pump. I had warranty on the waterpump but I had to pay $350 for the thermostat. I know it's silly to do at the dealer but I coz the waterpump covered so I didnt mind. and I had them for emergency appointment so I had my car back to me as good as new the very next day

Thanks
Troy

yeah that was the quote from Bromspec in brookvale, i mentioned to him about the thermo, he said he'd check it all out.

i mentioned i could get it from Stu at BMR for 700 and he said he'd check suppliers and beat it.

the fact they are like 2km from me and I need it sorted ASAP i just dropped it round there.

heaps of e92/ e93's round there

I would not trust him. He will play your friendly mechanic while waiting for the first opportunity to rip you off. Been there, done that.

Good for me

used him a few times now and no probs - there are lots of BM's there which is a good sign usually. He owns an M3 too

I don't mind paying for things as long as I get what I paid for and so far my experience is that the car is getting the work done as requested
