ABS wheel sensor (P15C9) - replaced, fixed it for 2 weeks, back on again
Any ideas? I replaced the sensor, the ABS went off and no more codes, then 2 weeks later the same sensor is showing an open circuit.
Also, can you clear ABS codes with a regular Zurich like mine or do you need a BMW specific code reader? If you clear do they sometimes go away for a while? Last, is there a way to clean the wheel speed ring inside the hub? Can I spray it with something like electronics cleaner or something or where does it "drain" to or would that go into the hub grease or something? Not sure if the ring itself is all sealed up. Thanks! |

Now, in addition to the right rear sensor that I replaced 2 weeks ago throwing a code again, the front left sensor also is throwing a code (open circuit, cannot determine speed, etc).

Rust causes the diameter of the tone rings on the rear axles to grow and hit the ABS sensor. That can confuse or damage the ABS sensor. Some have had success with shimming the ABS sensor away from the tone ring so it doesn't hit. That is a short term fix. I had both rear axles and ABS sensors replaced, and haven't had a problem since. The cost was about $1,300.
