Sticking Front Caliper
The left front caliper on my 128i was sticking, and would not release fully. The wheel was much warmer after a drive than the right side. The Caliper Seal Kit, P/N 34-11-6-766-683 was only $31.82, a less than a remanufactured caliper, and a lot less than a new caliper. After removing the dust boot from the piston I could see rust in the piston bore. I cleaned the rust, and carefully used compressed air to push the piston out. The only part of the bore that was rusty was outside of the piston seal, so it was easy to clean up. I polished the bore and piston, replaced the piston seal and piston. I didn't have the special tool to press the dust boot in place, so I carefully pressed it in place a little at a time with a large screw driver. I used a pressure bleeder to get the air out of the caliper. The caliper works fine now, and highway gas mileage is up by 8 MPG.
