Looking for a 128i sport package in CA. Prefer *brown*, grey, white, etc. just not red. Would prefer it has Xenon, and manual (not mandatory) and any color interior is fine.

Thanks for the help

Just finishing up grad school and looking to get out of my commuter and get back into a german car. Would like to have a fairly good idea of future car by around december but this is a loose estimate at best. I have a few options now but as i told you, was looking at similar vehicle but was bought out from under me and can't seem to get past it (due to color and price). If/when the time comes for you to sell in the next few months, whats your price estimate?

There lies a problem then, the price i was talking with the dealership about was 20k for a 2012 with 9k miles. While I realize this is was a great deal, I don't know that I could justify 29 but things can change between now and when you are ready to sell.

20k for a 2012 with 9k miles is an awesome good deal. Hell, I'd buy one just to flip it, at that price!

I have an '09 128i, manual w/ M sport, montego blue exterior. 53k mi.

Looks like we're close, too—I'm in the South Bay area.

Curious which dealership was selling a '12 w/ 9k miles for $20k. I've gotten offers left on my wipers for more than that for my '11.

For perspective, I have a '11 w/ 27k miles, 6-speed, no sunroof, M sport package (according to the online VIN decoder, M SPORTFAHRWERK), black/red leather, HIDs, comfort access + iPod/USB, the N52K engine (desirable, non-CA emissions engine), and brand new Sumitomo's HTR III's...no way I'd let it go less than $22.5k if I was selling it today.

I consider myself lucky I found this it spec'd the way it was; it was collecting dust up at BMW of Roseville because that's basically a rich/old/white suburb where they can't sell a car w/ a manual transmission. If you can't find a private party to buy from (who can write you a sales receipt for a lower amount, saving you prob another $1k on sales tax) then look to dealerships outside of the Bay Area where a manual trans / no sunroof car is something that won't sell in their local market. Roseville is a good bet as they get a lot of off-lease cars in mint condition and it's not too far of a drive. Their sales staff is unremarkable, but they'll negotiate over email and I was in-out in under an hour so you don't have to deal with them long.

Good points about looking around at other dealerships. But finding a pricing error like the one discussed is most likely to happen with a private party eager to get out of a car. Buddy of mine picked up a Boxster 5k below KBB a few years back because the owner was moving out of town and didn't care too much about it.

Yeah - those do pop up locally here because we have a lot of decently paid people on H1B's that sometimes need to let the car go pretty fast before heading off. I think the really amazing deals will be rare though since most people now know about Carmax and use that as a baseline.

The one in question was a Marrakesh Brown 12' 128i auto. They had it on the lot for 8 months due to the color. I watched the price drop from 28k to 25k to 23k and eventually they sold it to a party that bought it an hour before I got there for 20k + tax, title, etc. However, East Bay BMW just sold a White 12' 128i M-sport manual with brown leather for under $22k (had <40k miles). So there are lots of deals out there fore 128s you just have to be patient. I'm talking with Mini SF about a 10' 128i sport, premium, xenon, etc. and they are asking $20k, but I already know they will take closer to 18k.
