Paint chip...

I just noticed some chips in the rear flares!
Does anyone else have these issues? Maybe some invisible shields like the ones from Porsche?
Any ideas?

Yeah I had Xpel fitted around the rear arches to stop the gravel rash from the front wheels.

Have them covered with paint protection film. This is what many of us did before we even started driving the car.

Any competent installer could cut pieces (w/or w/o model-specific template) that would do the job.

Xpel has great patterns (for this area and the other panels as well).

I am going to leave mine alone to display the quality of BMW's paint to the world. 3550 miles and the rear flares are already riddled with pockmarks and chips.

knowing what i know now i would also recommend having them do the lower section of the door that angles down towards the road. I have strips behind my front fender and the rockers covered but found lots of little marks in this area. pissed....

LOL, well I hope you reconsider and reprint them someday! After seeing lots of z3 owners at autocrosses with magnets or other items to protect the rear arches, I never understood how this could be important, but put one and one together after checking out my own flares a few weeks ago! Fortunately for Car Junkie, i don't think i have seen any with rusty quarter panels.. Thanks for the tips,

Yeah I just noticed these chips the other day

I touched it up with dr colorchip and it looks much better. I'll also be buying the rear impact zone from Xpel, which I already have on the front.

The standard 3M template should have the rear wheel arches covered.

That's the thing with flared fenders. They look bad-ass but they get hammered.

Cool, by the way, the paint sticks from BMW... Are those any good?
I need to cover few holes before the films go on.

I have one, I didn't find it particularly easy to use but I guess depends on what type of chip you are fixing. Some surfaces are harder to deal with.

I don't but I'll try to get some later this week. I live and work in NY but keep my car in NJ, so only see it once or twice a week.

Where are these chips exactly? Above the wheel well or behind the wheel?

In front of the rear passenger wheel, where it flares out.

Does anyone have any good pics of the protective film templates that are used on the rear arches as im abit concerned that you will be able to see the edges as BMW made the arches nice and flowing and i dont want these edges spoiling the flow tbh, i am thinking of getting the entire panel done even around the tops of the doors. Not sure what to do however.
