This is an untrue statement. Dinan has their own warranty but they are most definitely NOT covered under your BMW factory warranty.

2 years or the length of the new car warranty. Whatever is longer.

So i return it back to the dealer telling them the noise is still present made me drive with 2 diff techs to confirm noise.. well cars at the dealer get a call earlier today saying i need a new engine and they have ordered it.. so im wonderin is this new new or refurbished and would they put my miles back to 0? do i have to follow a break in procedures and so on? anyone experience anything similar
i dunno if i should be happy or mad.. thank for any help im comming from an e39 540i and the 135 was the only bmw i really liked alot for some strange reason.

+1

Be happy that they entertained the idea of a full engine replacement. I would've assumed they would've dicked you around with "it could be this... It could be that..." Wasting time and money in the process.

I think you'll be VERY happy with the results.

Every Engine aka Block will come from BMW/BMW-NA some are brand new and some might have some work done on them.. again this is not a big deal because they are 100% genuine and inspected/tested by BMW/BMW-NA before they get shipped to your dealer.

If your car is at BMW for an extended period of time (over a month), you should ask BMW to cover the payments for that stint. My service guy gave me an elbow and a wink and told me to try it out when my HPFP went. I think many people have had success with this after contacting BMW NA. Good luck!

Sounds like BMW is trying to make good on their warranty, that's a positive.

The main concern is how well everything gets put back together, as its' done by a dealer tech. Hopefully they assign their most seasoned and experienced tech to do the work.

And since they already gave you new turbo's the biggest parts are new or refurb'd like new, another positive.
That ring may have been bad for some time. You didn't notice any blue smoke from the tailpipe?
If you like how it ran in the condition that it was in, after this rebuild it should be really sweet.

I'm very surprised about this though. It's very rare for any engine, let alone a BMW, to go that early in life.
Stranger still is that they replaced the turbo's and gave the car back to you so that you discover that it's shot.
The tech didn't notice the problem? Light smoke, gas smell in the oil?
Odd.

Wow. I am sad to see so many 135 issues. Is the problem that prevalent in the other '35 cars like the 3, 5 and X?
