Anybody else hate the "Sharkfin"

My ex (no longer in touch for last three weeks, probably forever, Thank God) said it made the car look mean and scary. Shoots down the people that say the car looks "Cute". I have no options that use it as far as I know, but like it just fine. It's another thing that distinguishes it as a BMW, like the roundels......

It doesn't have a radio antenna in it as that is part of the rear glass.

It may have the XM / HD radio stuff that you guys get, but in Europe if you don't have Sat Nav and/or Bluetooth you don't get one.

My car doesn't have one and looks smooth at the back - but I am not bothered if it's there or not.

The BMW Stereo in the US uses their Diversity tuner, and has dual antennas. One is in the shark fin.

The 3 FM and 1 AM antennas are in the rear window.

The sharkfin contains the mobile phone/TCU, GPS, and Sirius (separate satellite and terrestrial reception) aerials.

So what do they do on the 'Verts?

Screw-in rod antenna for AM, FM1, and phone. FM2 and 3 are under the rear bumper trim.

In the UK the 'verts only have a fin if they have DAB (digital radio).

After getting used to seeing it on 3s and 5s I think it looks a bit out of place on the 1. Does add some "flair" though which is cool.
