What are you paying for Gas these days?

I paid C$ 1.039 / LITER for Super 94 Octane in Vancouver last night. 91 Octane was only 3 cents cheaper.
It would be C$ 55/$US 44 for a complete fill.

This factors out to about 85 cents US$/Liter

or about US$3.25/USGal.

How does that compare? Much better than 6 months ago for sure.

South Florida has extremely varying rates. Of the Tri County area, Broward (FLL) is the cheapest at $2.09-$2.19. Dade (MIA) is always 20cents more per gallon due to crazy taxes there, and Palm Beach County is highest with a 50 cent extra tax (keeps those pesky poor and middle class people out of their county).

Daytona Beach area averaging around $2.15 a gallon. About 3 weeks ago it was under $2
That's for 93 octane. I use Chevron as it was on the "Top Tier Gas" list. Better than the $4.36 a gallon I was paying a little while ago..........

My question for the group is if the oil companies are having to raise their prices to due the crude oil costs rising, how can they get record profits each quarter? if their price is going up along with ours, shouldnt their profit margin remain the same not get bigger?

If we, the taxpaying voters, actually decided to pay attention to how we vote, and paid attention to the issues, we would have noticed that the oil companies have not built a new refinery in ove 20 years. From laws that don't allow them, to their insane greed, to how we used to have our foreign oil at 20% and now at 60%, we need to change.

If we allowed drilling, whether expansion of the new North Dakota fields, to ANWAR, and with the ridiculous amount of safety regulation that prevents spills, and then make the oil companies spend their profits on building new refineries, then our gas prices would not only stabilize, but they would stabilize at a MUCH lower rate, and give us working Americans time to breathe with cheap gas until we wisen up and switch to electric cars, and all of us can drive Teslas and Fiskars and of course have BMW electric cars by then.

Until we pay attention to our voting and our politicians, we will continue to be controlled by them, and the oil companies will continue to have record profits.

So the solution to a situation created by bad laws and policies is...an economic dictatorship? With more bad laws and policies?

Thanks but no thanks....

And I last paid $1.85/gal for regular unleaded. Premium (93-94 octane) is selling for around $2.07/gal here.

Just filled up on monday...

Munich - Shell Premium 95 Octane - 1,24 EUR / Liter
Filled up ~ 38 Liter = 47,12 EUR

Recalculated in $ and gallon it should be: 4,70 $ per gallon

.. and yes, i am happy with that price!

You may want to recheck your math.
38 litres = 10.3 gallons
47.12 Euros = about $60.60 US.
Dividing $60.60 by 10.3 = $5.90/gallon, not $4.70

BTW, in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, the current price for 93 octane premium (98 octane Euro) ranges from $2.05 to 2.20 per gallon.

Sorry, wasn't thorough enough. I definitely don't believe in an economic dictatorship. What I meant was that the companies would get huge tax breaks and lots of help in building the refineries, not fining them or creating more regulation. We have enough regulation.

Just the point of making it a really good deal for them to make gas cheap, and make it also quite favorable for car companies to make and sell electric cars, and give big tax breaks to the taxpayers themselves if they switch.

A bit of a futuristic dream, still not there yet, but I would love for my house to have the solar panels so I would have the Grid as a backup, not a source, and then to have the British QML electric engines on my 135. Is it possible right now? Yes. Would it cost a combined $80K to $100K? Yep, sure would. Do I have a million dollars or two lying around burning a hole in my pocket? Nope. So, it's a dream for now.

But a pure electric 135 that could do 0-60mph in approximately 4.5 seconds and also get probably 200 miles to the charge, yep, I'll take it.

No problem ... but we've got to keep using gallons so we can get confused with the folks in the U.K.!

Off topic a little, but I've always wondered why people in the US refer to it as 'gas' when it isn't actually gas... What do you actually call Gas?

"Gas" is a truncated version of gasoline. See <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline>

I pay $1.99 for 93 octane at a Mobile station right off the interstate. 91 octane can be had for between 5 and 8 cents cheaper off the highway. For whatever reason, Missouri typically has the lowest gas prices. Its like fourth or fifth lowest tax wise which has something to do with it.
