Misfires on cylinders 3, 5
So I've searched the misfire issues and I've watched the Cobb misfire video and I'm assuming that my problem is I need new plugs and/or new wires etc. I only get the misfires periodically?? I'm running stage 1 aggressive 08 135i 45k miles. Once I turn the car off and turn it back on the throttle returns to normal and the service SES light disappears. I've tried producing the errors on Map 0 but haven't had any success.
My question is do I replace with stock Bosch plugs or so I go with the NGK's (which ones work)? I've got DP's waiting to be installed and will probably install an IC so I'll be running stage 2 maps. I'd appreciate the help.. |

IF you don't want any more misfires replace your plugs with ones bought from a BMW dealer. The OEM(aftermarket ones) tend to also misfire. Its not a 100% thing, but its a high chance.
BMW OE plugs are good for tuned cars. Also... our cars have no plug wires. The coil(pack) sits atop of the spark plug. Look over your old coils for any trace arching when you install your new plugs. You will also need a special 14mm 12point tin walled spark plug socket to replace them. Also be aware that a lot of guys are getting misfires on cyl #5 tend to have carbon buildup. That will mean pulling the intake manifold and having at the carbon. ~$500 job. Good Luck, Dackel
