Should I take out my intake?

I am going to my dealer to get my wheel looked at it because it has a slight wobble to it. I have an injen intake in my car and I'm wondering should I leave it in or switch back to oem when I go to my dealer since the issue has nothing to dk with any engine components I'm thinking of keeping it in but I also do not want to void my warranty so what should I do, be safe and take it out even though it a pita or will I be ok leaving it in since all they have to do is look at my wheel

Sounds like a strip of your balancing weighs fell off the wheel or something. This has nothing to do with the engine and BMW service don't like doing more work than necessary so I really doubt they'll go poking around in your engine... but if you want to be super safe I suppose you could revert it to stock. If it were me... I wouldn't bother.

You must be kidding ... How can an intake affect your wheel and on what ground you think a BMW dealer would void your new car warranty????

If I were you, leave it unless you have time to swap the intake and have fun doing it.

It can't hurt to remove it, it takes all of 15 minutes and would prevent any blame.

Having an after-market part on a car does not void the entire vehicle warranty. The warranty may come into question however if the particular part is ever the cause of a failure.

Exactly. But if it's as easy as removing an intake, why risk the dealer blaming you?

plus if they care, they can probably put a note on file for your car. so if you do ever run into engine problems bye bye warranty.

Ended up taking out the injen and putting the oem intake back in, it took me around a half hour I figured better safe than sorry. I know the checkup on the wheel has nothing to do with any engine components but better safe than sorry. Btw I don't think the wobble is due to the balancing weights being messed up on the rim I think it's from a pot hole. I just had to change my runflat cause it had a tear from hitting a pothole.

Lol, I've had my car into the dealer with my Injen intake, CP-E downpipes, JB3 (map 0) and got nothing but complements from the CA on the intake. He acknowledged that it makes a sweet SWWWWWWWEEEEEP *PSHH!* sound.

Ironically me too, all the SA's and techs were swooning around the car. Jon's Red Dragon went into service last month and they wrote Red Dragon on the write up rather than Red 335i I think the techs appreciate the work we do.

Don't take it off. Some people on here are way too paranoid. I could understand if you're having an engine problem, but there is no way an aftermarket intake can affect your wheels.

This is my take on it too. They could EASILY note the account and if anything ever happened engine-wise it could come back to bite you. I think you made the right decision for the half hour it took you..

there are members here who have not had their warrantees honored because of modifications. Why take the chance?

If you guys are so paranoid and worry about the warranty, you should not mod at all. I have been moding several brand new cars and none of the dealers gave me problem about the warranty unless some thing clearly thay can blame to specific mods.

In general, intake and cat-back exhaust should absoutley gave you zero problem unless you droped something in the intake tubes during a bad install.

Good luck.

That's great that you've not run into any issues personally, but do you think that maybe you just have a cool dealer with regard to mods? Have you not read posts about other less tolerant dealers that refused work?
