That sounds like a great idea! Best of both worlds! Any chance you have pictures of how you made your cuts/trimming on the stock part?

I just got them yesterday, going to install them soon. Does everyone else remove that large tray underneath the stock filters?

I dont have any pictures of the process, but I just traced a rough idea of where the strut brace is, then cut along it. Cut less first, and then do more if you need to because you can't put it back on after its gone lmao.

I used a dremel with a few cutting wheels and it was pretty slow because the plastic is hard and gets overheated/melts - probably wasn't the most efficient way to do it but it turned out okay.

FYI I wasnt the first person to do this, I saw it in another thread and thought it was a great idea to keep some rain protection.

I cut the cowl and filled in the center to allow a seal to be fitted. Added outerwears material to the filters. Have had no issues with water in the engine bay or contactng the filter material.

Any additional comments from those running a DP (particularly catless) and BMS cowl filters? Smell unbearable? Will buying the M3 cowls help minimize the smell factor?

If you have exhaust smells coming into your cabin, you need to fix the exhaust leak and not worry about what type of cabin filters you have. filters don't filter carbon monoxide out.

Put your cats back on. You're currently polluting more than 100 cars. Also you're going to kill yourself with CO.

The CO comment was an exaggeration.

The cat emissions comment was not an exaggeration.

I bought a spare cowl from eBay and cut that..I then fitted a little trim over the cut edges... best of both worlds.
