Anyone rolling on HRE R40?

I'm considering getting these wheels in the flat black and was wondering if someone may already have these...would really like to see some pics of them mounted before dropping $5k....any help appreciated. Thanks!

eh, not big on the black/black/blacked out look, esp with flat black wheels that cost 5K. they'd be hard to see in pictures too.

anyways these aren't R40s but still HREs

This new 'level of detail visible in photography' criteria for judging wheels is interesting. Only get the bright green ones so CCD chips can extract all wheel information

well you're paying 5k for wheels... wouldn't you want to see them?

They're not invisible, just not contrast-y enough in some photos

I've wanted some P40's, but I cannot justify the cost, especially on a 40k car that I DD.

P40s would be worth the money - but it doesn't matter because they won't fit on a non-M, no way, no how. Have you spoken to HRE about 1 offsets? The R40's not as concave as the P40 so maybe it could be done - if they are willing.

P40's as in these?

they don't look concave at all? advan RZ's look more concave than that. these should fit without a problem and since they're custom built, they should definitely fit.

Not a chance. I spoke to HRE 2 years ago. The P40 has a big curve. They'd have to completely redesign the wheel for 47+ offsets. Would have been sweet, but they will work on a 1M. Now I just need BMW to offer Laguna Seca and the DCT and I'm there.

ptack that's surprising. theres no way they could have built it to fit? your wheels look more concave too!

maybe i have some fundamental misunderstanding somewhere.

nice, though

Is there really $4k worth of difference between the VMR V710 and the HRE R40? I really can't see the motivation for spending THAT much extra cheddar...

Seen the P40s in person and they are indeed nicer than VMRs or other similar wheels. Are they several thousand dollars better?? I might do it, but you obviously have to love them to ignore the cost.

The pic above is of my car with P40s on it. They work great - thanks to Photoshop. Reality, however, is Forgestars.

They might be better and I won't debate that fact but $4k better? $4k buys you a full exhaust, coils, a COBB AP, M3 sways, and some CF bits for looks. THAT would be money well spent.
