XIs with 17" WHEELS
I tried this once and it didn't seem to work.
So I will try again. I am just wondering who has an xi with all season tires and are going to switch to snow tires because of bad weather. Please only these people reply. Thank you. Also, give your reasons. I bought an xi for better traction in bad weather than a FWD with all season tires.

I have the girlie 16" wheels, but I don't plan on purchasing snow tires either way since 1) it doesn't snow that often in Jersey, 2) if its really bad I still have my Volvo 850 that has a set of snow tires.
Obviously snow tires are certainly best suited for driving in the snow, but by virtue of the name "all season," wouldn't those tires be fine for driving in the occasion snow storm? Is it worth the money for an extra set of tires and the cost of replacing twice them twice a year?

deltron, thanks for responding.
It seems that I just couldn't get this poll set up right. Of course I meant the 16 inch wheels too. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. All the girls I know have 17 inch wheels.

I plan to, should help, though we've been using my wife's WRX with all-seasons for a few years now without any issues. Been a bit sketchy in a few spots and the defroster sucks, but otherwise fine.

I get get away with A/S on an xi in Buffalo in the winter.. Since I leased the car, didn't want to have to go out an buy another set of rims that may not fit the next car I have.
That all being said.. I can get a little iffy every once in a while, but I've never gotten stuck (this is my second xi). However I really don't live in the "snow belt" around here. Were I am we only average 90" of snow a year. About 10 miles south starts the snow belt and they average twice that. They are also extremely good about plowing the roads around here.. No matter how much snow we get, my street is plowed long before I get up in the morning every time (and it should be considering how much taxes I pay them). So the roads really aren't that bad.

Just to clarify, since the poll is future tense ("I am getting..."), for the benefit of xi owners who have all-season tires who would participate in the poll, should the options include "I already have"?

325xi 17" all season
Worked great this winter and I drove the car in more than 6 inches of snow and got up steap hills.
Winters will probably work even better but I don't need it in Northern CT and NY. And yes I'm a girl with 17" |

Snow tires are great I had a set of Conti's on my E-46xi used for the 2004 winter they were great however I was too lazy to put them on last winter but the all season did fine.....
now for my E90 330 XI I just picked up a set of 19 inch rim and tires for the summer and will use my stock 17 inch all season tires to traverse the winter in NYC Tri-State area...... |

We Xi owners pay more $ for xdrive to get more traction. So, why skimp on tires?

It's a pain to store and change snow tires. Also, when do you put them on? I can get snow fron mid Sept. to mid April. I don't want to drive with snow tires for 7 months. Also, snow tire don't feel right on dry roads.
