Sorry Dack it is a repost. It's been posted in the general vehicle area quite a few times, but the mods keep moving them to the M3 forums. Hopefully this thread lasts long enough for the rest of the 1Addicts can see it.

horrible, stupid, irresponsible work behind the wheel overall. contrary to what some of you have said, though, i like that he drives straight off. i doubt he did this consciously, but at the point of no return, which was the moment it became apparent that there was a left bend there, he did the right thing NOT trying to save it. if he had done anything drastic at that moment, that car would have ended up on its roof for sure. even a blind squirrel...

I would like to add that the driver of that car is not the creator of that YouTube channel. The video was acquired from the driver and used with his permission.

it's almost as though he didn't want to turn when he saw the corner? Watch his hands on the wheel, there isn't any understeer at all, he straight up just didn't turn the wheel haha. I remember accidents in my first car, but that's the only time i've had any!

At 19 seconds he is turning the wheel left but the car doesn't respond, and at 20 seconds he straightens it out, perhaps realizing he's blown the turn and doesn't want to roll the car?

Re-post, but always fun to watch. Glad I live in Chicago, but then we have our fare share of inexperienced poor drivers.

I think I read that it was South Mountain Park. If this is the case, he is lucky he went off in a place like this. There are many other places that he might have been airborn for a bit longer; after driving off the side of the mountain.

For sure. Looking again, I should have known that was S. Mt. There are some parts going up to the summit where you'd drop a good couple hundred feet. He's way lucky that he crashed at the bottom lol.

Another reason I think there should be a special license to drive anything over a certain amount of HP. Take a certified course and you get an endorsement on your license. You get caught w/o it and you owe a huge fine! I think people should get one to drive in the snow as well.
i.e., 16-18 you drive a 4cyl non-turbo or slow ass 6cyl 19-21 6cyl 22+ V8 or 4turbo 6turbo limited to a certain amount of HP 25+ anything you want with certification Anyway something along those lines. I grew up with fast cars so I was used to whatever I drove. I'm sure auto manufactures have their hand in the cookie jar when it comes to regulations like that though. |
