Installing a rear sway bar
Found these directions for a E90:
https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/f...ons/22834R.pdf According to the directions, you can remove the rear subframe bolts and loosen the front subframe bolts. I'd rather not disconnect my brake lines since I have an autocross event on Saturday and I may be doing this more than once since I'm going to try my 15mm bar first, and if I don't get enough rotation, will jump to a 20mm one. Any hints or suggestions before I start? |

It's not much fun, getting the stock bar out is really easy because it's so flexible. A 15mm bar might not be too hard to put in but my M3 rear took a lot of creativity to snake it through and out the other side.
I loosened all bolts, removed the big cup washers for the bolts to get the subframe down a little further. If I did it again I'd disconnect the brake lines for as much extra space as I could get. Definitely disconnect the wishbones and I ended up unbolting the guide rods too. I did a fair amount of "rocking" the subframe as I fed the bar through. My car has the stainless fuel filler pipe, that made the passenger side a bigger pain to deal with, but I went from driver to passenger side to get it in.

I also just did an M3 rear bar like spidertri. I was going M3 rear arms at the same time. I can't imagine getting a new, bigger, bar in with those arms in place. I lowered the subframe but didn't disconnect any brake lines. It's a pain to fish the new one through, but it can be done.

People here overexaggerate. The last time I did a rear bar on one of these cars, it was <2 hours all in, and I'm not a fast wrench. Put a jack under the diff/subframe, remove the four mounting bolts and slowly lower it down until you have decent access then just wiggle it out from the side.
