I actually don't think the values have dropped as much as they should have. It's only because everyone paid full MSRP a year ago and now because of the economy they can be purchased close to invoice that it seems that way. (MSRP-invoice)+depreciation=$$$

New 135i, paint, sport, destination invoice = $35,305
It is insane that the going rate for a year old car is only $2-4k less than a new one.
07-08 335i values are fast approaching 08 135i values.

Most other cars have suffered significantly more depreciation.
You have to pay to get the newest toy.
So much for waiting a year to save on depreciation!

yeah it's nuts. Paying the price for early adoption hurts To think of all the neat aftermarket things I could have done with the car with the $14k+ I've lost to depreciation alone in the last 11 months.

Hey OP, consider leasing one? The current lease specials on the 135 look pretty good right now

If it's any indicator, my 2008 land rover lr2 which was 43k brand new was worth 28k about 16 months later. This vehicle was voted to have the highest resale value in it's class. I gurantee it will be less than 6 months before all the '08's are worth less than 30k. Just take a look at the 335i's to get an idea, this being considered generally a "more desirable" car.

Land Rover's historically have the worse resale value among their competitors. You can get a then $80k Range Rover HSE in '06 for mid to high $20k's now. Also, you are aware that the E90/2 cars are in higher production volume than the E82/88 cars right??

I counted 5 n54 335i's this morning in a 1 mile stretch of highway on my way into NYC today.

If one can purchase an '08 135i with low mileage for below $30k, it will be either because cosmetically it is not mint, has been beaten on or the seller is desperate.

I'd be willing to wager a benjamin that in 6 months the kbb on an optioned 135i is less than 30k.

A few months back when I first started looking I missed out on a $28k 2008 135i, SGM, black leather, ipod, 7k miles, and a few other options that stickered for almost $40k. I spoke with the seller and I decided that I wanted to buy it outside of ebay. There were no bids until 30 seconds before it ended. Someone jumped in and got it for $28k, the starting bid. I regret not making a move.

With that said I personally wouldn't pay any more than that for what you are looking at. Of course I couldn't find another similar deal so I just ordered new instead

I would say $31k average and $32K if it is extremely clean and exactly what you want. Just my opinion though. Good luck.

$27.5-28.5k. That is a very stripper model 135i.

Lets just say KBB is not accurate on the 135i. You can easily buy a new 09 135i for less than the 08 KBB used price. Does that really make sense?

KBB

KBB is way off. All used car estimators are falling behind the falling values in the marketplace

Actually used car values are going up while new are plummeting. Check it out.

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/08/a...-prices-go-up/

And the newer 09's don't have the exclusive year one of the one ! That alone is 5k.

I don't know if this is too far for you to take a look but YARK BMW in Toledo has quite a few gently used 128's & a Few 135's, I f you can make yourself pay a little more they even have a new Jet Black with Lemon interior,BEAUTIFUL. I was so tempted but OCD Black and Winter don't get along! Good luck

Used going up? Media hype. Makes no business sense at all. If new cars are being given away the gap is narrowed and then a buyer skips the used for the new. Thereby depressing used prices as well. Maybe prices on beaters are going up cause that is what the general public can afford these days. Used prices on 1 series are definitely depressed due to the unusual discounting at the dealers on new cars. Basic economics.
