There's an install video made by oxwerkz for the install. There's also knock-off versions already on the market, saw one going for $70 on ebay.

finally did my secondary cat delete on my car.. but I ended up getting an SES and a 2C9C code.. has anyone else who has done this experienced this? a bit worried as I have headers, 3IM and an exhaust but that was tuned and never had the SES as a result up until I did this job.

it reads

"Digital Motor Electronics (DME): catalytic converter upstream oxygen sensor heater:"

P0030 SAE code.

Drove it and the days are numbered for 2020. Almost about to hit 63k on it.

Edit: Just closed on 63k, running like a champ!

Took off the US Millwork plate mount. Had our bodyshop supply house mix up some #300 in an aerosol can. Shot the new tow-hook plug until the paint flowed nicely. Let it dry over night, and installed it this morning. Really a much better look!! Let's see how long I get away with it.

Perfect color match. Also got some touch-up in a bottle, and a tiny brush, and worked on some very small chips that had been bothering me. I hate the BMW touch-up paint. The bottle of clear is never thin enough to flow. I prefer single stage gloss for touch-up.

Over the last week or so have had installed my 2nd OFHG in 15 months, my 3rd water pump in 13 months, and a new battery. The first 2 water pumps were VDO/Continental which tells me that either I am cursed, or that OEM is no guarantee of quality. At Aus$600 + labour to fit each time, they're not cheap.
On a positive note, after being off the road for nearly 4 weeks, driving to work this morning was an absolute pleasure.
On a totally irrelevant note, while my 1er was in the workshop waiting for a new water pump to arrive, she had these two beauties for company. These are the toys my mechanic plays with on the weekend.

Changed the rear diff fluid for Redline 75W85 GL-5 gear oil. Was surprised it only holds about 1 litre...kind of makes me 2nd guess my choice of viscosity. What came out was much thicker than what went in.
After 90,000 miles, the OE oil still looked and smelled pretty good.

Something is wrong with that. Methinks your mechanic is doing something incorrectly. I hate to say that, but those water pumps are high quality. Having two failures on essentially brand new pumps is beyond bad luck.

Having and OFHG fail after just over a year is also absurd and indicates some kind of installation error in my opinion. Perhaps the housing was tightened incorrectly or the sealing surfaces were not cleaned properly or both.

Do you let the water & oil temps come down before shutting the car off?

Well, I've looked, or at least started before the weather turned. Belt is in one piece, no shredding at all. I got lucky.

On the other hand, my power steering pump was laying on the subframe. One bolt, broken off, was on the under tray. I have no idea where the other two went. No symptoms at all, had no idea the pump was getting loose. No rattles or anything.

More to come tomorrow after I finish taking things apart and get a good look. I've had the smallest ever rad leak for a while now, will probably swap in another rad too while I've got the front end apart. Still debating new eng/trans mounts, but at 100K miles I should just pull the trigger on all four... Gotta laugh at the price difference between the two OE eng mounts.

Changed oil (Redline 0W40) and filter/o-rings. Transmission (GM 6L45) is draining now...fluid looks clean and doesn't smell burnt. I'll pull the pan and filter when I go back up to the shop...I feel a nap coming on.

Next time there's a "why keep the undershield thread" you can add to it

Good news for you about the belt.

When I originally did my new turbos I realized I had a slight oil leak here and the meeting point of these 2 feed lines. Figure new orings would fix it. After my turbos, and new seals it was still leaking, so I got new lines and new o-rings. Now I'm leaking from the same spot again!!!! I'm going to change this to a compression fitting somehow. My friend builds racecars, he said it is possible and he will show me how this week. So hopefully this will never leak again. Pisses me off a terribly expensive place to keep leaking

Not familiar with the fitting but you could be rolling the oring on installation. Did you lubricate it with anything?

Dropped the trans pan, and pulled the filter. That filter seal is a pain in the bawls...I'm gonna have to get me a seal puller. The magnet had some fine debris on it (perfectly normal) that comes off like a paste, but nothing I could feel between my fingers. The fluid didn't have a trace of red left in it...looked more like a clean(ish) motor oil.

Got 'er buttoned back up, and started the filling process. I got about 2 1/2 litres in before it started running out. I hope that's enough to avoid any 'dry pump' sounds when I start it up to continue the process...

It's not going to be under load or anything while it's low on fluid. You're doing fine. Did this twice on my E46 with GM trans. First time I ended up swimming in fluid.

Being under a running car feels kinda scary but there is nothing applying force to the ground so it's fine. BMWs are super stable on their jack pads.

It's all done...took another 3 1/4 litres. When I changed the engine oil, I only added 5.5 litres, so after running it to do the trans fill, I thought I would check the oil. It shows "OK", and is at the 'full' line. I thought these (N52) took 6.5 Litres/6.9 Quarts...

I think I'll take the missus for a spin through some local twisties, and check again when I get home.

It feels good to have changed all the filters, fluids, and sparkplugs. I usually go through the same routine any time I drag home another car. They always seem to work just a little bit better after you show 'em some love...
