2013 135i limitations ???

Hi all, I have been looking for a 135i for quite while now and one has come up that i am very interested in. ( only interested in n55 DCT )

Prod. Date 2012-07-

My question is regarding the DME, i have read that these later ones need xtra work to "jailbreak" them(a bench job) which doesn't concern me too much so long as once that's done I will have access to all the software tuning options i would have if i had an earlier DME?

Also I see PWG and EWG being talking about, whats the story here?

MHD is looking like one of the better options. How does this work with DCT? I see people making comment about clutch slippage..... Is there a way of adjusting the computer to apply more hydraulic pressure to the clutch pack? Or do MHD tunes do something like this already?

Any information you guys in the know* can share regarding these later builds would be greatly appreciated.

Will these later builds give me problems/xtra limitations with my future plans or should i stick with a 2010/2011 build?

A little further info with my intentions for the car. I will do all the bolts ons(already have some of them) and will be looking to get what power she can give me. Its almost certian I will also end up doing an upgraded turbo something like the purestage 2 in search of 500whp or so.

MHD can now be flashed through the OBD port on late model e series. It works. I just did it tonight.

If you're looking into doing some big things with your N55 135i I'd recommend following Matticus91 and austinaslink. Matticus has a very nicely done PS1 build and Austin is currently in the middle of a nasty looking PS2 build. Both are done right, very well documented, and may be a good source.

Damn, how'd you manage to buy an on-set car from the Fast and Furious??? This monstrosity can't be unseen, and now I'm going to be sick.

Awesome! Congratulations. The sideskirts and bumper look really good! What all is done to it?

I have a 6 Speed Manual, so not super familiar with DCT limitations, but feel free to PM me with any questions about engine/turbo/chassis questions/limitations.

If you end up going with PS2, the DCT should be more than capable of handling the power.

Austin

I have a ps2 with dct, running about 20psi for around 2 years and maybe 30k miles with no slippage. My car was tuned by wedge performance (who I highly recommend) and from what I understand you can get the trans to increase the pressure on the clutches with mhd.

The trans is not quite as smooth as stock (although it can be a little weird stock too) but it’s really not bad at all. Before MHD was released for the n55 I had a jb4 and the trans did not shift right at all.

Any fueling upgrades? I am tempted to go PS2 as well, but don't want to go too far down the rabbit hole.

Fuel it stage 2 low pressure fuel pump
E/R charge pipe and FMIC
Pure stage 2 with inlet

Around 70k now, I think it had around 40k when I did everything.

I’m not easy on the car, but I also only drive in manual mode... I think that helps. I don’t think it’s good to have the transmission downshifting/hunting for the right gear under boost.

I changed the dct fluid once around 50k and reset the adaptations, I’ve never felt it slip. I’m sure I’ll have to upgrade them eventually but I’ll wait until there is an issue.

I think the people that have had slippage issues in the past were running jb4. The jb4 tricks the Dme into making more boost, so essentially the Dme thinks your making 8psi when your in fact making 20, and the egs module adjusts the line pressures for the clutch packs thinking the car is only making stock torque.
