why two pipes

I know someone made the comment they liked two pipes all the way back but I don't know why they would.

It seems like it would add unnecessary weight.

Do you get better performance from the twin pipes?

Clue in the clueless here if you would be so kind. Thanks!

It wasn't me who made the comment, but I wonder if having two pipes would provide better flow. Although I know nothing about fluid dynamics (or whatever discipline is relevent here), it appears that the main restriction occurs when the two pipes merge into one. I think the question is whether two 2.5 inch pipes are better than one 4 inch.

On another note, the picture looks like there might be some clearance issues with the two pipes going past the rear diff....but maybe that's just me

'please keep us posted and if you can find out prices and gains if any?'

Are you saying you don't want it for the noise factor?

Waiste of Time

This thread is a waste of time. Borla's lawyers must be involved. This is taking WAY TOO LONG!

I wonder what is involved in the 'R&D' of an exhaust by Borla?
Surely they aren't 'test fitting' trials...right?

Patience people, how long has this car been out? Not even half a year yet. I think the vendors and tuners are doing a great job getting new products to us. I bet once this exhaust is released you guys will like it.

considering the number of 1s in the USA (about 7000 now) and how many BMW expects to sell in 2008 and 2009 we are getting hella support. I may not like the 3 and 5 series, but if it wasn't for these cars we wouldn't have 10% of the support we are getting.

Chill a little the vendors are serving the 1 commuity well.

but I can't wait to see this exhaust either

What I have so far sounds good, its deeper and more throaty (especially on start up), cruising you can hear it a lil but I dont think its too far off stock (I cant remember how it was really), there is no drone or minimal drone depending on the RPM, but its not annoying drone. I dont have drone at cruising speeds.

Ive been complimented on the sound many times and some people say they can now hear the turbo. BMW people know its aftermarket coming a mile away.

Biggest RWHP delta was 12, peak was 7, no TQ numbers yet.

I didnt want to say anything until everything was finalized.

if you had to compare it to one of the other exhausts already released, what would you say sounds the most similar

Now it doesn't sound like the Viper, but because its so throaty and deep he discounted the fact that it was the 135.

Today I noticed that myself. Ran in to get something I had forgotten and on my way out I could hear the car and was impressed, I had to look to see that there were no other cars out there. This was just after start up though and it is deeper then.

. . . so Meisterschaft then ? . . . haha

question the high flow drop in filter, does it require any kind of oiling agent to filter the dust and other stuff. It would be even more good news if it was a dry filter.
