I just put in the cool carbons with motul rbf600 for this last even along with some SS lines. A much better and importantly consistently better controlled slow down from high speeds. Def do it, you won't regret it at all.

Lots of good info here guys! thanks! I saw a DIY on this site for the brake ducts. I don't have a welder but I should lood into a riveter. I need the "tube" connector peices too. I already have duct material.
BTW I instruct for Audi, BMW, NASA, Trak Daze, and anyone else that doesn't know any better! 8^) I'm tryinng to dial back a little but I am not dead yet! ANOTHER QUESTION: I guess i should start another theread! but what about harness bars? What are you doing for that? I had a roll bar in my e46. I do NOT want to do that to this car (yet) as it is leased and so perfectly clean etc. I am planning to take the race seats form the other car BUt I need something for 6 point harnesses.

I used to get 7 days with the e46. I am trying to brake less. It slows you down! But seriously, I have been working on my braking for a couple of years. Maybe I can make more progress and go faster if I have less brake! Too bad the stoptech pads don't fit the 135. I still have some new and almost new hawk pads.

I did Trak Daze at VIR and also at Autobahn in Joliet, IL. I don't know if they are coming here this year. My next "track days" that I know of are with Audi Chicago Chapter at Blackhawk. I miss typed trak instead of track in one post. Still TrakDaze are cool people and VIR is awesome track! It's too far from Chicago though.

The BRracing bolt-in solution is the only one I've seen in person. It looks good to me, but what do i know. My issue has been that Schroth still hasn't certified their 4-point harness for the 135 and I'm not going to put racing seats into my car at this point. Would be nice though.

I saw that but $1200 is not cheap! It looks nice. I don't think you could use the strut bar itself for a harness bar. The downward angle is steep and it is pretty far away from the front seats.

THEY SAY CALL. no prices or info.. Pictures off of there face book look good, except the mounting at the base plate at the front seems odd?? it cant be that tiny allen bolt in the corner.. it must be the largeer bolt that goes horizontal ??? it would be great if you could smush the cushion back in to make it appear complete. im sure the seat backs could make it . whats the concencus on seat harness with stock seats??? ( i.e with no holes in the seat back..) never really looked, but i gather the seat back may be too high and the angle will be wrong...

GOt th info on the TCK bar: somewhat similar in that it is basically a roll bar, also powder coated to order, and about 10% more money. Looks good but not as easy to get it in and out. I am looking for something simpler. It may not exist for this car.

Backing plate brake duct Mod..
Ok, after spending some time last night, there is some good potential to making some small to medium size ducts fit.
There is an oem bolt that currently holds the oem plate on that i can use and there are a few spots on the plate that will easily take rivits and or small bolts to secure the rest of the duct. the frontal area of the duct should turn out to be about 7 or 8 inches long and about 1+ inch wide. the opening will sit proud of the rim so that it gets as much ram air as possible to the hub of the rotor. i was hoping that the duct would be somewhat squarish, but that is impossible. It actually has a compound bend in it to clear the lower control arm and sway bar. we may have to invert the abs sensor wire in the metal bracket so that it clears the duct in full lock, but i wont know till one gets mounted. I ordered and have a backing plate to play with they were really cheap... worth the experiment. I need to pick us some really thin tin to make a stiff mock up, and then transfer to thicker gauge galvanized stuff. please dont laugh at my picture below... it was a phone pic and a quick MSpaint scribble to show its location

thats the idea. I think you are going about it the right way. best to try with a dummy setup so you can iron out any issues before hand. looking forward to see how it turns out. need your blue print after you are done

Dave, be careful with an aggressive track pad and the OEM brake setup. They appear to be a track-worthy setup but are far from it if you are an aggressive braker. I am on my second set of BMW brakes, which came right off the car after replacement and into a box, replaced by Stoptech.

Mark, PLEASE tell me more! "Aggresive" is a relevant concept. Of course I wait till the last moment, squeeze hard release smoothly (hopefully) and back to throttle. Sometinmes, expecially at BHF, I am left foot braking and probably heating them up a little more as I am probably dragging them a tlitle coming out of the turns. You know what I mean. I am trying to use them less but when you go into turn 1, you are breaking hard and late, and facing a lot of "wooded landscape" if you don't make the turn! Or at T7 and the swamp! Pad suggestions? I really need a relaxed test day like an ABCC members day pass! I had ST40's w/355 rotors on the M3. Very secure braking with the DTC70's.

If you are looking for an effective track pad, contact Danny Puskar at Carbotech Brakes (www.CTBrakes.com). He will help you find a good solution. I've used Carbotech pads for years. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the pics of backing plates.. i've seen most of those..
The purpose of the "ducts" actually "scoop" is a better discription, is that we ( as in Daily Drivers that spend some weekends at the track ) dont want to deal with hoses and cut up wheel well liners. ( and in my case... In a Leased car LOL ) I have compiled: spare backing plate 3 types of tin for prototype wood blocks to make form ( so i can repeat the duct later) I have all the tools needed.. Ill entertain my GF most of the day tomorrow... and be one with myself in the Garage in the evening
