Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires - am I crazy?

Michelin must have added some tire sizes recently because I've never seen the Pilot Sport Cup in a size that I could use on my 128i. That got me thinking...

Does anyone have any experience with the Pilot Sport Cup tires and would they be completely insane for a street tire? Fortunately I am running a square setup with 225/45/17 so I could rotate them. Even so, I suspect I wouldn't get more than 15k miles from a set. I'd be tempted if I could get that much life from them.

I don't think it's completely bat-shit crazy. The Mustang GT350 comes with Sport Cup 2s and the Z28 Camaro had equally aggressive Trofeos. At least I'm in Texas so rain and snow aren't an issue. I've got Continental Extreme Contacts now and they're good for an all-around tire, but I would really love as much cornering grip as possible from the relatively small 225 mm footprint.

The Michelin Cup tires are VERY sticky. You will be picking up all the little pebbles and loose gravel on the road and throwing it around. Just FYI.

What are your goals in having as much cornering grip as possible?
There are other very very good performing tires for a lot less than the Cup 2's, something like RE-71R or Hankook RS-4.

I guess you know the disadvantages, short life, noise, hard ride, real dicey in the rain plus picking up every stone you drive over as mentioned above. Probably better kept for track days. I'm on square 225's, although on 18's. Pretty happy with the grip from PS4S's street and light track.

Just get RE71Rs if you want an R comp.

Buy MPS4S if you want something that won't be greasy until you heat them up. Best nonR tire out there currently aside from the AD08"R".

My personal opinion is that on a 128i unless you need them for track it's a total waste.

Given that the Bridgestones are $400 less for a set, the Sport Cups may not be worth it. I doubt they are that much better than RE71Rs. I'm more apt to take a chance on the Bridgestones.

As ppl mentioned above...get MPS4S.
Perfect for street/track car, great traction in rain and longer life.
