Yesterday - did a coolant changeout. I got 5.0 L out = about 60%. I was going to do a proper flush but got lazy and figured since I've done this every 2 years it was good enough.

Coolant looked like new - no surprise given the few miles I've done in the last few years. Probably going 3 years until the next one unless my miles increase.

While the car was up and the underbody shielding off, put on a 135i front ARB I've had sitting around. In case anyone didn't know, the two bars are the same diameter. Difference is the tapered part is about 5" on the 135i bar vs 10" for the 128i.

Worst and most time consuming part of the whole day was getting the #%^# undershielding back on.

Took a gamble on the weather and mounted the wheels. The car still needs to settle another 0.25” all 4 corners. I also think I can squeak a 3MM spacer in the rear. Please excuse the dirty car pics... it’s gonna rain every other day for the next 2 weeks.

Looks like a good fit brother, nothing beats a nice, meaty fitment. Great choice on the tires too. I realized that you’re pretty close to where i am, will see you around when i drive around in my 128! I used to work a lot in your area!

Quarantine work. Did a new vcg, just because I'm bored. Didnt need it.
Bought 3 refurbished index 12 fuel injectors. I know, I know, lesson learned!!! All had the same number on them for coding. I tried anyway and filled my garage with gas smell and misfires on all 3 cylinders. Lol. Took them out sent them back for a return. Ordered new from fcp. But cleaning and changing the seals on the old ones worked well. Car is running great.
BTW my car had 2 index 6's and an index 10 in bank 1 and 2 index 9's and 1 index 6 in bank 2 and the index 9 was the only one giving me an occasional misfire. Always cylinder 2. Guess you can mix injectors.
I put all index 6's in bank 1 and the 2-9's and 10 in bank 2 and all the 6's will be replaced this weekend. Couple weeks I'll get the rest of the index 12's, damn things are pricey

This is pretty interesting, haven't heard of this material before, how are you doing this?

So this is a fairly "new" process first introduced by Lamborghini in their ALA aerodynamic parts. It's carbon fiber, but shopped, interesting fact Lamborghini developed this process as a way to recicle bits of carbon fiber. This is done almost the same way traditional carbon fiber is handled.

IIRC, they worked with Boeing on the forged/chopped carbon composite.

You can source everything on eBay or any composite retailer. I don't have any links for the products.

Since the quarantine was extended for two extra weeks here in Puerto Rico I decided to start prepping the front bumper for paint & since the plastic cover is of, I decided to clean the front end.

Hey b1aze,

Great looking car! I just got the same front lip, and I was wondering if you have any tips on the install?? Thanks!

So Route 66 will cover my water pump and labor...
I was told that my thermostat wasn't bad...
But I figured why not have them do the job(makes sense while they're in there)...
They're going to charge me parts and labor for the thermostat...
Now parts, I can understand, but labor I don't understand...

Will keep you posted on this...
Will be speaking with a manager Monday because this sounds like robbery to me...
Sure this has been heard before, just venting I guess...

Tell them to not put it in.....and when their backs are turned swap in a new part.

BMW dealer tried to charge me labor for a clutch install when the old clutch was being removed as part of the work. The only extra labor was opening the box.

I'm gonna let them do the work and plead my case to their manager(they've already begun the work, i didn't realize i was being charged labor twice until i called Route 66 and they explained everything to me in greater detail)...

And if that doesn't work then we go to a higher form of management...
I'm also part of BMW CCA, so if need be I'll reach out to them...
Will exhaust all avenues possible because this is absurd!
