So all the surfaces were so hot she had to open all the doors to let it cool off for several minutes before she could get in. No noticeable damage to the car. I asked her if she noticed what the oil temp was and she said "what's that?"

That was the last time she drove my 335i and she has yet to drive my 135i.

WHAT THE! I'm just surprised no one got into the car and just drove off with it. That would be the only, permanent and irreversible damage that I could think of.

Hahaha as I have explained in the original thread, she's a good girl, a keeper. I was mad about it for a while and ended up revoking her BMW privileges.

That's the funny part, she actually remembered to lock the doors but she forgot to turn the ignition off. You would think the engine and exhaust noise would be enough to remind her that it was still running.

The same question that I posed in the original thread, why didn't BMW design a auto timeout function? Say if engine is still running, keys are no longer detected in the cabin, doors are locked, engine should stay on for 30 minutes or something. Perhaps a beep or visual reminder on the instrument panel to remind the driver that the engine has been running for 30 minutes, press the ignition button in 10 seconds to keep the engine running otherwise engine will auto shut down.

It was also running courtesy of inattention and CA.
To my knowledge, CA does not auto lock the car when parked and you walk away from the car with the keys (regardless of whether or not the engine is running), correct me if I am wrong.

Auto locking only occurs when you drive off with the car, when setup to do so.

All normal --everything worked as it should have. Kind of like a preventive maintenance inspection on several systems actually. Nothing to worry about. Just a good thing it wasn't parked inside a garage with the door down.
A million dollar idea here: invent/install a CO2 sensor in garage doors so they automatically open when a certain level hits to prevent suicides/accidents as such.

Someone died like this 2 years ago where i work. Dude drove home drunk and parked in his garage. He closed the garage door and fell asleep on steering wheel. Car was still turned on when he was found by his sister.

It's a street car, not an F1 race car. You're not going to damage it by letting it idle.
