ActiveE parts on ebay

I've been seeing this white drivers door on ebay with what I thought was some graphics:

Turns out it's off a very special 1 Series, the ActiveE. They were 100% electric cars and according to Terry B. only 1,100 where made.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_ActiveE

And now I'm kinda curious to know more about them ...

I remember reading that BMW leased these cars to select drivers across the U.S. for an evaluation period. When the test was over, data was collected, drivers were interviewed and I got the impression that the cars were sent to the crusher.

Legend says some cars survived. For a while it was very desirable to obtain a hood from an ActiveE as it has a hump built in to clear the battery/motor at the front. I always thought it looked weird because it was a large rectangle orientated long ways across the car.

I wonder if there is a bounty or reward for the capture of these rogue vehicles.

Can you send me a picture or video please?

Yeah same, I remember seeing semi trailers loaded with Active E's going to the crusher.

I would do "things" for an ActiveE hood.

My dealership did most of the diagnosis/troubleshooting on the Active E concept cars. After we ironed out most of the bugs the brains, electric machine, and battery was jammed into what is now the i3. They were all sent to be crushed (subsequently many celebrations were had by those who had to work on Active Es) as is required with concept cars, so I'm surprised there are any parts out there.
