headlight oxidation
Hi guys,
the quality of headlights BMW makes for our cars are terrible!!!! The duration it takes for oxidation to take place is so short, especially if you look at the HID projectors, its so obvious!! in 6 years i've gone through 3 sets of headlights.. maybe i'm a perfectionist but i really hate seeing the car looking nice and polished, only to be undone by yellowing/oxidized headlights!!!! Anyone have this issue as well? and what options do you use? |

I would reccomend polishing your headlights when you polish the car and that will keep them in good order. You can use more abrasive bodywork polish if neccesary, it wont damage the plastic.

Got pictures? Three sets of headlights in six years is abnormal in the climate you live in, I think. Our E91 is 9 years old and has original headlights which apart from some scratches, look brand new. No visible oxidation or yellowing. As long as the car gets regular washes and a good layer of sealant, there should be zero problems with the headlight plastics.
Polishing plastic lights removes the factory UV layer so that kinda backfires because they will get oxidized even faster. Gotta apply some coating on them.

+1 for xpel headlight protection. $50 bucks is a lot better than replacing the headlight.
