Low brake fluid indicator on service menu

When I check my service schedule menu from the button on the indicator stick. I'm getting a red low brake fluid icon. Does that mean I have low break fluid, or does that mean I'm due for a brake fluid replacement service?
It only shows on the service menu, not as a warning indicator.

BMW recommends brake fluid flush and replace every 2 years and this is also part of the scheduled maintenance program. Good idea to do this whether or not you go to a dealership - just be sure the correct fluid is used.

Add some fluid and see if it occurs again.

Depending upon the condition of the fluid, it may or not need to be changed. Is it cloudy? Also there are test strips for brake fluid to check its condition. They work really well.

Anyway, I've found the fluid doesn't have to be changed every two years.

Any experience here with something like this?

Do these things work?

Yeah they do.

You can also get a product like Speed Bleeders which allows you to bleed your brakes by yourself. With it and a turkey baster, you can make short work of R&R your brake fluid and do it cheaply.

I use a Motive bleeder.

WRT test strips or a little widget, however, I have to wonder how well the moisture content in the reservoir matches same towards the end of a rear caliper? It's not like brake fluid circulates.

So I bought this:

http://www.amazon.com/Brake-Fluid-Te.../dp/B005HVG4GQ

And it shows my brake fluid is VERY WATERY, replace immediately! Funny thing, though... dealer service history for my (new to me) car says brake fluid has been flushed twice (29 March 2014 and 04 April 2012). Somebody is not telling the truth.

Thoughts?

Just flushed my brakes. Little widget that showed what was in the car to be VERY WATERY shows fresh fluid as having no water. Huh. So how did my brake fluid get so wet after a March 2014 flush? How is that possible?
