I hate insurance companies! So this morning, they finally send over the appraisal. It lists two cars. One from the dealer I purchased my car from and another from auto trader. The one from the dealer is the same year, with basically the same options. (M-sport w/DCT). It has 14,000 less miles. They are asking $5,250 more then the insurance company is offering. That is over 35 cents a mile. Edmunds knocks off $650 for the mileage difference.
(I have not been able to find the auto trader car yet.) |

Expand the search and see what you find. then use the same formula they are using. find a car with more miles and add 35 cents a mile. Use their 35 cents a mile to your advantage. they in a way locked themselves into 35 cents a mile.

I just bought my e88 sapphire metallic 2008 135i 6spd red interior heated seats all the options but nav. 55k miles, I payed 17700 it's in excellent condition. So maybe that gives you a ball park for pricing

My '08 E82, 6MT, was totalled in mid-July, it had ~ 80K miles, everything but nav. It was an exceptionally well maintained car. Insurance paid ~ $15,800 for it. NADA was at ~ $15K so they treated me decently.
Got a CPO '13 E82, 6MT with almost everything including nav (and I like the CIC nav, go figure ; -) to replace it. |
