all i wanna know is when did this color become available?!? That's what we wanted when we went to the dealer a month ago but all that was avail then was cashmere silver. So we ordered SGM. She's gonna be irritated when she sees the first ti silver on the road...

Body in white...

Is it just me, or does that hood look White on the underside, as well as the shock towers?

The way paint is laid down on most production cars (and I suspect on BMWs also) is you put down a base coat of solid color, followed by a metal coat, followed by a clear coat. So for silver, a base coat of light gray goes down over the entire car, the metallic coat goes on outer shell and around door openings. So I suspect you're seeing that effect here. I could be wrong, but I believe that's what you're seeing.

Looks white to me. I know all bodies start in white, Called the body in white. I think they just leave it that way for the silver maybe.

I think the M kit made the car look sporty.

'Body in white' is a coachbuilding term - bodies start with primer, than a base coat of color - other layers are added from there.

Here's a pretty good explanation for the term 'body in white'.

PS - one other definition of 'body on white' is a bare monocoque in 'white' from the factory with suspension components and not much else, intended for racing. Ford has a decent 'body on white' program for the Mustang.

Just got back from the KC Auto Show and I peeked under the hood of a couple of metallic painted BMWs to see if I could figure it out. They spray base and metallic over the entire car. Clear coat is missing from the engine compartment and it looks 'lifeless'. Suspect the fact that it doesn't have the 3D appearance of the clear coat is what you're seeing - either that or someone did an Earl Scheib paint job on that BMW. ; -)

Has anybody seen Ti Ag with terra? Any pictures of a 1 series or any other model with this combination? I have a SGM/terra ordered but having second thoughts, I really like the silver but I have to have the terra interior and don't know if this combination works. Your opinion...
