1) Remove negative terminal from battery (socket 10)
2) Take 2 plugs that are holding the carpet in off with a flat screwdriver.
3) Pry the carpet back so you can get to the 3 bolts securing the tail lights
4) Undo the 3 bolts holding the tail light in place (socket 8)
5) Replace tail light with new tail light

Reverse instructions to install. Repeat for each side. Reconnect battery afterwards obviously.

Got mine installed today. aacabriolet's right on the money with his quick DIY. One thing though is that these lights don't sit as flush as the ones I had installed in my car. Make sure you notice how your stock lights are lined up before you proceed to install these. The new lights seem to have a thicket foam which pushes the lights slightly out. You have a certain degree of tolerance to adjust the lights when you are fitting them and tighetning the bolts so make sure you line them up good. I held mine pushed in while I fitted them to get them where I wanted them.

Can you post a few pictures up of your install?

hahaha really?

it's about the most straightforward install ever. you pull off the carpet behind the light, use an 8mm socket to unscrew 3 nuts and the then disconnect the light and pull it out, put the new one in, connect the plug, use the socket to screw the nuts back on the 3 bolts. Rinse, repeat on other side and boom you are done.

I've got a pic of the finished product but didn't snap any when installing.

Yes - I understand that, I did the procedure myself. I don't see what's funny?

Eagerly await your feedback! If you have an email address please PM me so we can keep in touch as well.

So you think if I get the Bi-Xenon LCI headlights and plug them in, the Angel Eyes and LED Eyebrow will light up? Considering I have stock halogen at the moment.

Then I would just need a HID kit for the projectors?

I'm trying to ask a few guys here... Even BMW aren't sure..

Hi aacabriolet,
I got the new LCI headlights but have yet to get the LED eye-brow lit. No problem with the other bulbs. The new headlights have an additional pin. The attached pictures will give you a better idea. I'll try to get a jumper across. Will keep you posted.

Thanks. I got mine installed last week. We tapped angel eye wire for now for the eyebrow until BMW releases the wiring diagrams for the LED brow. We haven't found anything yet, let me know if you do and I'll do the same!

Thanks.

Rear Lights for 12/2008

Hello
I have a 135i convertible build 12/2008 with xenon and just sent my dad to buy a set of the new LEDs in Austria armed with Dackelone's part numbers (left tailight with rear fog : 63217273427, right tailight with rear fog : 63217273428)

I was then a bit confused when my dad put this guy on and he said to me on the phone that end number 427 doesn't talk about being LEDs but just states bulbs in his computer (maybe he didn't really know as I suppose there are some bulbs still in there such as the fog?).

And on top of it all he advised that I need a cable adapter and the footwell module for my car.
Now I think I have read that some guys here say that we don't need anything else than the new taillights and they are plug and play.

Can anyone confirm both the part numbers again and that it's not necessary to buy the footwell and an adapter cable before I get the gear shipped from Europe?

Thanks a lot.

Hi outsider and everyone

The thick foam is item number 8, right? And it comes free with item number 9, right?

Thanks

1) Which part numbers did you use for ordering the LCI headlights?
2) Which P/N were your previous headlights?
3) Did all the bulbs fit from old healdights to new ones or did you buy it with all the lamps new?
4) Is it a PnP install or do i need to change the control unit and ALC box as well?

from the old light = xenon + control unit & signal bulbs will fit

For the LED LCI tail lights. Is the Braking pedal light an LED or is that still a regular halogen?
I will be all over it if its LED as that means the light illuminates faster and improves braking distance reaction time of people behind you.

a good read:
