Does the 1 series have a panic button???
Anyone know how to activate and deactivate the panic button or is this a feature only for people with an alarm?

Mine has one in the interior light cluster linked to BMW assist, if that's what you mean?

No? Not sure about USA but here, they are only installed by an aftermarket tracking company if you choose to install one.
Over here ,the system I have is in such a way that when the panic button is pressed, it alerts the company who will call a helicopter should you not answer your phone when they ring to check if everything is ok :P |

I am not sure with the assist, but if you have gotten the alarm put in by BMW, then all you do is hold the trunk button down for about 3-5 sec and the alarm will sound. Thats how it works on mine.

In UK the alarm is standard and than if you want to activate alarm yourself (panic mode?) you have to press and keep some of the buttons on the remote (details in the manual)
So if thats what you mean by panic button. Otherwise You have so called SOS button where the sunroof controls are located and once you press it you get connected to bmw assist team who have your location and can bring help more quickly. I heard that if you are involved in accident and the airbags deploy, the car "calls" the assist in case you are unconscious and unable to do so yourself.

No alarm. No Assist. No gun.
Guess I'll just have to do it the old fashioned way and scream "RAPE" at the top of my lungs.

On the '08 - just with the Alarm. I'm not sure about the recent changes to the '09 version since apparantly the Alarm module is no longer available. Perhaps some of the previous features are standard now.

I think a horn honk is one of the available confirmation of door lock/unlock. So if you program your 1 to use that signal, you could repeatedly lock/unlock you doors! Could be helpful if you "loose" it at a shopping mall.
