Crankshaft position A Circuit
Cars over 162,xxx miles. Is there any way to check the sensor before replacing? This is the only code I'm getting thus far, should I be worrying about a HPFP replacement in the near future? |

Your best bet is to replace the sensor itself. You could DIY, but I've heard it's a pain in the behind to do yourself. Just doing a quick search, it seems like the dealership would charge ~400.

Can anyone take a picture of where exactly is the sensor on they're vehicle?
Really don't want to take my 1 to the dealer and feel like I can tackle this DIY. |

Ordered the sensor (VDO) and was reading that a notch could cause a problem in aftermarket vs oem.
The last thing I want is to tackle this DIY and have a sensor that doesn't fit. The notch doesn't seem to be as offset as the one in the attached screenshot maybe the issue was corrected? Any experience with this is greatly appreciated. |

Oh ok I see the differences now I wish I could offer more help but have never come across this problem. Seems that you should just stay with the aftermarket one then right?

Sensor correct!
Just wanted to update I replaced the sensor last night !
Whatever problem the guy had with the notch issue on his sensor VDO must have corrected. The sensor snapped right in and I no longer have a code! I noticed a lot of caked up old oil covering the sensor. Sprayed brake clean and tried to clean the surrounding area. Saved a bunch of $$$ and hopefully won't get anymore long cranks or limp. |
