Wish I was getting the 135 (a tad too expensive), but I found the 128 to have excellent pickup as well. I decided that I would just wait another year if the 128 test drive didn't impress, but the speed/handling is just so smooth, I can live with the smaller hp.

So do you have 800 831 1117 on speed dial yet? I ordered my 128i convertible Friday and am waiting on a production date (it is scheduled for production with no specific date yet). The website still shows the black/black couple that the dealer converted to my configuration to get it to me a little sooner.

You'll enjoy it! Did you get the sport package? If I'm not mistaken, the sport package on the 128i gives it the 135i suspension, a must have IMO as the 135i suspension isn't even quite up to par. |

Look, I'm not kidding myself - I know the sport suspension is much better, but I'm going to have to just be happy with what we're getting... |

The 800 number is for BMW north america. You need it anyway if you are ever stranded by your BMW, it is the road side assistance number. What I use if for currently, however, is to get the current production status. You should have a "production number" on one of the pieces of paper they gave you when you bought it. If you call that 800 number and then listen to the prompts you can get the status of your car.
The website is the BMW north america website. You have to create a membership for yourself but that is pretty painless. Once you do, you can get the status that way. It shows your options but if your dealer reconfigured an existing order, like mine did, it takes awhile for the website to show the correct vehicle. There is a sticky that explains this better than I have and also gives you all the codes. Mine is 112 at the moment - scheduled for production but without a specific date. That is what it went to Friday afternoon after I bought it in the morning. The car that got reconfigured was to be made next week but it was a coupe and mine is a convertible so I don't know if I'll get exactly the same slot or not. Jim

tm30- you will LOVE the 128i with the 6MT. I have had mine for about 3 months and it is awesome. Plenty of acceleration and phenomenal handling. Puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. I had to wait about 10 weeks for mine (painful) but it was well worth it.

Congrats!
One better way to gain the info on your car is to call your CA. Ask your CA to inform you when production week info is available. Usually you can have VIN a week before the production.

Here's what you'll absolutely love about the 128 over the 135, and it'll bring a smile to your face every time. When you're going into a right turn, and shifting down into 2nd, your RPM will drop, gun it through the corner and you have plenty of power! Not that 1/2 second lag that our beloved 135's have. Post up some pictures of your 1er!

Don't worry tm30. You'll be picking yours up before you know it.
I'm only 7 days away from D-Day, but 53 days ago it seemed like I had a whole 2 months to go.

Congrats from fellow 128er. I totally agree with you on your choice of picking the 28 over the 35, I had the same exact reasons. I also wanted the vert so a 35 with the vert was just out of the $$ question. One suggestion, you must do the sports package. Only option I didnt get that wished I did! Its only like 1k more and just the seats alone are worth the upgrade. If your fianacing then its probably $10-20 more a month. Sit in the sports seats then the regular ones, you will see so much of a difference. When ever I drive with my daughter and make a sharp turn she sorta gets pushed over, the sport seats have much better bolstering to hold you thru the curves. Im actually having some leather cracking, when I bring her in for 15k service, i am asking for new seats, and see if I can upgrade to the sports seats. btw, I think the regular suspension is fine, just want the seats!
