Upgrade time

I've sold the M2 and the 1M stays, at least for now!
It's too quiet. M2 has BMW Performance Exhaust that made it sound great. Thinking maybe it's time for Akro Exhaust.
Thoughts? Full system? Cat back? Does it need a tune to get the most out of it or just a quality intake?
Not looking for more power, just need to wake her up some. And don't want to do anything but quality upgrades that add(or don't take) value from my low mileage, stock car

Akra is good and you have the option with a open/ close valved system.

I have Akra DPs, stock mids, and Akra slip on w/ the valve. Sounds very aggressive w/ valve open, stockish when closed. If you do not want to upgrade your OEM DPs you could swap out the OEM mids for N55, Maddad or even the Akra titanium mids. I doubt any of the above would affect value, as most prefer the better sound. Not to mention the motor will breath better. If on a budget start w/ the Maddad mids maybe -It actually sounds good paired w/ a stock system. GL

I would second this recommendation.
On a stock setup, swapping the stock axleback with a Remus doesn't make a significant difference. Pairing the aftermarket axleback with the Maddad makes it noticeably louder without being a sociopath.

My stock 1m was quiet...have Maddad midpipes and it sounds really aggressive now...im sure this is easily solvable =)

I'm running LW titanium axleback, stock mids and AR downpipes...very happy with the sound. Just another option aside from Akra

I installed Akra down and midpipes, but retained the factory axle back to keep it looking stock. This required a custom adapter (high flow and leak proof), and I had Burns Stainless fabricate it.

The result was a reasonably, but not offensively, loud exotic sounding system. I've never heard another 1M sound like it. Anyone in the Columbus, OH area is welcome to check it out!

I think a good starting point for you would be changing out your midpipes.
I've changed mine to Maddad mids, and they sound great paired up with any exhausts.

But unfortunatley, they don't make Maddad midpipes anymore, so you'll have to source one second hand.

I ran this midpipe with Eisenmann axel back, and Meisterschaft axel back, and now I'm back to the stock axelback (due to very idiotic police crackdown in my city - on ANY MODS on cars, including after market rims...)

Eisenmann was a great upgrade to pair up with my Maddad mids - slightly louder, and deeper tone
Meisterschaft was VERY loud - much louder, deeper, and very raw sounds.
And with my stock exhausts - they are slightly louder, with more burbbles added due to Maddad mids.

I don't think you need to tune your car after changing out your exhausts.
And all upgrades are bolt-on, which could be easiy reverted back to stock.
And if you go full system (including catless downpipes), you'll be smelling a lot of fumes during your drives.

There is currently a pending group buy on Maddad midpipes via Harold at HPA who found the original fabricator or something like that.

I had an N55 midpipe before that and it wasn’t enough for me. With the Maddad, I am satisfied.
