Sport Edition A7 too wide?

Gill,
The OEM wheels on my 135 convertible are 17x7.0

These Sport Edition A7 are wider: 17x7.50

Is that a big deal? Will they fit still?

Also, do you sell the BMW wheel-caps that fit in these, or do I get that from BMW?

Also, the tire pressure sensors are out of stock, any idea when you'll have them ?
Thanks!

I think you can just use the same wheel caps. If you want an extra set, you can get them from the dealer.

Gil - Any experience (bad or good) with the General Altimax Arctic (w/o studs)? I have to consider them just based on the price. Tire Rack reviews appear to be decent.

The Pirelli's perform well and they are the best choice. The Continental TS810S SSR comes in that size also, but people are not very fond of it.

The A7's fit, as do all the other wheels listed for the vehicle. The A7 takes the BMW caps as listed above. We do sell BMW caps for $6 each. We expect sensors the first week of October.

They are decent for the money, and much better than all season tires, but won't ever be confused with the best in class by Bridgestone, Michelin and Dunlop.

Gill,
My gf has a 128i w/ sport pkg and will be keeping her stock wheels and going with RFTs for their convenience (she has tire insurance from BMW).

It looks like the Pirellis will suit her needs but I noticed there is a choice between 225/45R17 and 225/50R17 for the rears. Can you advise on which to get and why?

I also searched for TPMS sensors but the link doesn't seem to work, will most installers have these handy?
Thanks!

225/45/17 is correct for the rear. 225/50 is taller. No good reason to use that size.

Gill,

Are you going to be in the office today? I need to order a set of winter run flats, TPMS and wheels from you so they can get here before my 135i gets here for winter. Thanks!

Not sure on the '09.

No one has to buy sensors. I'm not sure if your model will have them or the ABS based system like the Canadian models.

If you do have them and you leave them out you'll have the light on the dash showing an error.

I will do that when I install them. Hopefully, I can hold off for another month. Time will tell.

I purchased the Blizzak LM25's in 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 from TireRack to fit on the OEM wheels (purchased from another member here). Support and delivery were great and hassle free. Local mounting/balancing was $105. They must have reset the TPMS because the light didn't come on. The Blizzaks are a little soft feeling in 60 degree weather compared to the OEM RFT's but that is to be expected and it isn't too mushy to live with. They look great. When it gets cold I'm looking forward to feeling like I'm on a secure platform.

Hi Gill,

I have a Canadian spec 135i Cab with M-Sport Package. For winter use I am thinking of getting 205-50R17's all around. As far as rims go, what offset should I be looking for and do I need to get TPM for the new wheels?

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before:iono:

Thanks

Mehb

Hi Gill,

I have a 135 coupe with M-sport pkg and I'm in Toronto where we get a fair amount of snow. I'm thinking of getting 205/50-17 Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D tires and either the Elbrus I02 or the Sport Edition SE-14 wheels.

Do you have any suggestions as to which wheel is better?
Elbrus seems new- have you heard anything good/bad about it and do you recommend it?
Has the Elbrus been tested with the 135 coupe?

Thanks

Eric

For those interested in a pic of Sport-Edition KM11 (photoshoped). Not exactly perfect and not with winter tires, but gives you an idea what they look like on sedona red

Ok thanks to TNAWAB for posting his winter wheel setup with KM11's just on a SGM 135 i was able to at least put together a better rendition of what they look like on a sedona red. Enjoy
