Bad experience from BMWPartSupply.com
I ordered some parts back on June 13th at around 2 in the afternoon. Some simple parts really, all totalling around 120.00 total shipped. Later that day at around 8pm i got a notfication from a Tamra Balardeta the parts advisor there that if I were interested and since the parts were going to take 2 to 3 weeks to be delvered if I wanted I could pay 10% more and get them in 7 - 10 days. Interesting, Yes i told her. I would be willing to pay the extra 10% (~$12.00 ). Well, today is day 14. I contacted the company and asked them to refund the extra 10% since they didnt live up to that agreement. Well, i just got a response from them which reads:
"Hello, I aplogize for the longer than expected delivery time. One of your parts was delayed, possibly due to a hold up in customs or other various reasons. The usual time for a part to reach us on a rush order is 7-10 days which the parts have arrived today and will ship. The 7-10 days does not include the shipping time via UPS from our location to yours. We are packing your parts now and they will ship out today, you will also receive an email confirmation that includes your UPS tracking number. Thank you for your patience and my apoligies for the delay. Unfortunately a refund for the 10% charge cannot be applied to these already highly discounted OEM parts. Kind Regards, Tamra Balardeta Parts Advisor BMWpartsupply.com" Sigh, well what should I do and ask for? First is for me to ask for my bimmer-friends advice.

I wouldn't get into a large argument or upsetting situation over $12.
Yes, they should have made the time line they stated, but at this stage, why bother getting into a battle? Just my opinion, as I think we can spend too much time getting excited over insignificant monies or events. Save the sweat for the really big issues.

the interesting part is on my order, i just got a shippng notice that said it has shipped via UPS. when I looked it up at UPS.com they said they havent received the item yet or that is what it eludes to anyway. So that means they had the item in their stock and decided to ship it out to avoid any further issues. I feel lied to.

If I could find the parts somewhere else for around the same amount of money +/- $20, I would wait until I got the tracking number and then tell them I want to cancel the order. Then I would refuse delivery. I would call the credit card company first to see if they even would reverse the charge if the parts company wouldn't play ball. Yes its a small amount of money, but that's pretty shister of them. That's what I would do out of spite. Wouldn't bother me to spend a little more for the parts just so they didn't get my money. I drove 3 hours to get warranty work done somewhere else because the SA was a complete jerk when I called to schedule it. I knew I wanted some accessories from the parts department and I didn't want the jerks to get any money, mine or from BMW for doing warranty work. Later I explained this to the service manager and he was upset that they had not been very friendly. Since then the manager has been awesome with helping me. Up to you.

well i just spoke to my credit card co. and I am covered. If the company wont refund the amount they charged for the service they didnt deliver on then they will refund the amount charged for that extra service. It s stupid that it has to come to this.

The seller said she was shipping your parts that day, so it all seems to make sense to me. Whether you're entitled to the 10% back or not is another matter.

Ill put my experience in here as i worked in the parts dept at my local dealer for about a year. There seems to be some confusion. When you ordered your parts and were told 2-3 weeks that sounds like it was coming from Germany. Typical parts orders are usually no more than 4 days from any dealer if a warehouse has it in the states. Theres no overnight from Germany so 7-10 days to your door is just unreasonable. It will take that long to just get to the border. Then the dealer will get it and another day to process the shipment off the truck and then ship it out. When you get your parts and you open the box and this part the advisor rush ordered has an orange label then it was rushed on the dealers part and has nothing to do with them, a blue label is a regular order.
