So anything after 09/09 would not need coding and before 09/09 would need it?

Yes, that is my understanding when talking to my BMW Zentrum.

BUT.... we will not really know until someone tries this in an early build car.

So... who is brave enough to try AND report back to us!

WoW cool! You did the front headlights too? Wanna share the costs and any wisdom in doing this upgrade? Are the headlights also plug 'n play? Any issues with the rear LED tails?

Sorry to disappoint Dackelone, I just thought I would post some pics of the new LCI/Facelift in flesh (as I haven't seen one posted on this site myself yet, even though there might be somewhere)

Otherwise I would have definitely posted details!!

So that is a March '11 production vehicle

Said it before and I'll say it again. Ew.

actually, the lexus ones up there are newer versions of the old (same style though) and they look better than the new 1er lights.

and why couldn't they just make the angel eyes white like in the new 3, 5, x3 etc instead of adding that stupid brow? now the white brow just contrasts the yellow angels even more and makes them look out of place. at least it fixes the "bug eye" a little. both the new headlights and tails look like they're a woman's eyes with mascara on. eh.

the old 1er tail lights were very clean. three horizontal tubes, no weird awkward curves. oh well, maybe they'll fix it with the F20

Look at one in person you might change your mind.

If not, each to their own I think they look great. Gives the car much more presence.

I believe he did. Is his car EU though... or NA.... and would that matter?

The bulb sockets 6 & 7 (as well as the bulbs 2, 3, 4 & 5) are identical for all production schedule. It will fit the existing wiring set. No need to change module or additional harness.
I guess the difference in NA are the fogs option.

FYI... the brake fogs are only used in EU/RoW specs. But all markets also use these very same bulbs for the two stage braking lights. When you brake very hard the inner lights also come on. This is regarless IF the car is EU/RoW specs or NA.
