Not to the jack the thread but can you recommend some good shops in town?
My to-do list includes getting some new tools to work on this 1'er since most everything I have was for working on Hondas. I just changed the oil on it and had my mind blown with the top mounted oil filter. Years of hot oil draining down my arm are now a thing of the past! Also, if you could suggest a place to get my windows tinted, that would be appreciated. After Virginia Tech's embarrassing loss to Boston College, I'm going to need some privacy while driving around town, lol

For tint, no question, use SuperDave- windowtintingtallahassee.com
Been using these guys for decades, always been excellent work. Shops- I generally do all my own work. I've used one shop here in 20 years, to get my oil pan gasket done on the 135. I had em do the water pump & thermostat too since they were right there and it couldn't get any easier. Shop was europeanedgeoftallahassee.com and wasn't overly pleased for a list of reasons- Job was $1500, but they didn't put coolant back in the car and tried to send me on my way (dash lit up with low coolant warning), didn't tighten the control arms back to the sub-frame (under braking the front end shook like it would fall apart), left grease stains on the headline like tech had grease on their hat and rubbed headliner when exiting car. Tried to tell me the rad plastic side tank was cracked- it's not, still running same one, which I installed myself not too long after getting the car. Said they test drove it upon completion of repair, clearly they didn't... So, not a recommendation, rather a heads up for one shop, and a clear reminder to me why I do my own work.... Must be rant monday...

Thanks for the suggestion and heads-up.
This is the first turboed and RWD car I've owned so I'm sure there will be some new things to learn but, after a month of having it, I think it's going to be a fun time! I literally can't wait to drive to/from work...this 135 reminds me alot of the RSX I used to have but now with a greater sense of urgency, lol oh, but, hey, last thing and now topic-related...did your bumper come pre-painted or did you paint it yourself?

Mine came as unfinished dark gray or black, same poly material as the stock bumper. I removed the fog light & grill mounting tabs myself prior to paint so I could do the 1M ducting.
Then handed it off to Hudson's out west on Blountstown Hwy. They've done a couple of unmounted bumper and part sprays for me and both matched the factory paint color perfect. Cost for the paint work was $345 out the door- prep and all. http://jhcc.com/auto-body-shop-talla...ountstown-hwy/

Thanks-
It's an ebay bumper. Here's a link from the same seller, for what appears to be the exact same bumper- https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-1-Serie...s/173227201869 Still really pleased with it! Fits the 1M ducting perfectly.

Well, lots of pics in this thread... Anything in particular?

No cutting for the 1M ducting- it fits the bumper openings perfectly. I was able to mount the passenger side right to the oil cooler. The drivers side required creativity, but I just mimicked the process used by the how-to linked in the OP- pics both here and in his thread

Thickness is about the same- at least I haven't noticed a difference. The rep is not flimsy or any more flexible than the original. I've had it on for ~18 months now with no problems of reliability, and have R&R'd it several times for various reasons and all mounting tabs etc remain good as new.
If I remember I'll grab the mic and do some comparing tonight...

I'm running OEM ducts purchased from ECS. Feel free to order them from wherever you get the best deal!
They fit the rep bumper openings perfectly. Pass side mounts to the oil cooler if you have one. The driver's side, both sides if you don't have an oil cooler, will require some creativity to mount the inner side(s) if you can't mount them to a cooler. |

Yeppers! Still in Tally!
And Thanks! I'm still really pleased with it, love the look, specially when teamed up with the double slat grills!

Going to be using this method to hang my driver side ducting until I figure out what to do with the cooling system.
Did you happen to eyeball or measure the distance from any landmark for where you drilled the frame rail? What bit did you use? Need to buy one. Really appreciate the pictures OP

I didn't take a measurement, was more a matter of matching the duct opening on the passenger side, which is fixed so presumably correct. Once I was happy with the orientation and position of the duct opening it was just a matter of drilling & mounting...
Free hand works pretty well if your brain lets you picture things like that. If not, I can get the bumper off this weekend, takes but a second, and grab pics & measurements of everything.

Would save me a ton of time which can be hard to come by with an infant demanding so much of it. What drill bit did you use?
