Welcome Wrighty.

Posted my thoughts on the other UK forum you're on.

If you manage to find some good CF tips for the stock exhaust, shout out.

From everything that I read, no back box will change the sound much (in volume) unless it is straight piped, like the meisterschaft, HMS with valves open and Akrapovic with valves open. I think most of the others will be disappoiting if you are looking for more noise.

I've nothing exciting to offer I'm afraid, just the same thoughts about trying to find CF tips for the standard exhaust over on the UK forum babybmw.

The German company Lightweight used to offer CF tips that would fit the standard exhaust but no longer offer that option.
http://www.lightweight-titanauspuffa...1er-m-e82.html

I've contacted Akrapovic and their tips don't fit.

What I'd really like to see if a genuine BMW offering similar to these:

Took my tips off last week....they were real bad so decided to take them to a chrome finisher....When he said £35 a tip, i said bye bye...
I've now been driving around in my van with the tips in the back for the last 3 days wondering what to do...?
On the other hand, i'm loving the look of my 1M without the tips, but cant leave it like that lol

Could some please post the OD[mm] of the stock pipes to which the tips are fitted.

Post #18 on this Akra tips thread (not yet moved to the 'Engine | Exhaust| Transmission' section of the 1M Forum) has many (Carbon) offerings with various diameters & length

I did post #16 of that thread with the picture of the OEM tails.

The standard tails from the back box swage outwards as per the picture and I roughly measured the larger OD (the bit that that standard chrome finishers slip onto) to be around 64mm OD X 67mm long. The standard chrome slip on finishers are approx 111mm x 76mm OD. Measurements are approximate using a ruler and not calipers...

If BMW hadn't swaged the tailpipes up I guess we'd have a few more options for aftermarket tails.

Does anyone know if the black chrome exhaust tips available from BMW for the 135 Part #18 30 7 559 999 will fit a 1M stock exhaust. I can't find any information on their diameter.
