No, nothing about the hood is electrical (not even the latch).

Ok, so what does that little button switch do on the driver side? The reason I ask is because we have 2 cats that love a warm hood. So I usually open the hood to keep them off. Sometimes after a few days of open hood the car will seem to struggle a little to start, sorta like a weak battery.

Weak battery would give you "lifted car icon" If I am not mistaken it's shows up when battery goes lower than 70%
Though maybe it can drain battery because car doesn't get to sleep mode. |

I solved my problem. I cut a wooden dowel to length so I could depress the button switch and prop it up under the hood. So now the car will "sleep" and the cats won't be on the hood.

I checked my car (128i) and it has no such switch associated with the hood.

It has to be there it gives warning icon when hood is not closed good enough. Although my car is equipped with alarm so not sure isn't that the part of it. |
