clutch smell
Help, had the Dinan Stage 2 update, BMW Performance Suspension, and Breyton/Bridgestone re01 tires installed yesterday in preparation for a track day tomorrow. Took the car out and drove it hard and smelled the clutch. I was letting the clutch pedal all the way out so it was not this. I am now nervous about tomorrow because the hammering this car will get in the morning will be much more intense.
Is it just breaking in or do I have a problem. Has anyone else had this same smell. My guess is just the clutch is breaking in. Had a 08 z06 prior and never smelt the clutch, alot of brake smell though. Could be part brakes as well on the 135. The Dinan and suspension is really good, had my doubts at first. Thanks for the input Kerry |

My car is stock, but when I really lay into it, I smell the clutch now and then. Nasty.
Make sure you post after your track day. I'd really like to hear how it goes with the Dinan Stage 2 update, BMW Performance Suspension, and Breyton/Bridgestone re01 tires... and , of course, how your clutch holds out. TM

none of those mods should effect your clutch, only your left foot. clutch usage oppinion is like the personal oppinion on driving: everyone thinks they are above average. if you think about it, if 'everyone' is above average, then the average is actually lower and everone is average. (national poles say that most people think they are an above average driver) try to use the clutch less (counter instinct) and see what happens |

the car has 900 miles, I have been somewhat breaking it in, not abusing, but, not babying. Sometimes shift at 4500 and every once in a while 6000. What the heck is CDV?
Really appreciate all the help I have received on this car. Maybe it is my left foot(clutch smell), but, really do not think so. Kerry |

The Clutch Delay Valve is probably the culprit here. KerryE, this thread should answer your questions: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...&highlight=cdv |

+ 2 On my Z4 I could smell the clutch on hard take offs but after the CVD mod no smell and the car shifts smoother. I just bought a modified CVD and JB2 from BMS for the 135i.

My salesman (German) says to definitely not break 4500 RPMs, 105 Top Speed until 1,000 miles. Obviously, that is their recommendation, but I'd never chance running it so hard in the break-in period. But, that is obviously your choice...
