Anyone have any mechanical problems or build quality issues with their 1 series?
It seems that the 1 series has been well assembled so far. I have not seen any threads about mechanical problems or build quality issues yet. Is the 1 the perfect car?

Most of those posts are going to be in the Maintenance/Servicing/Warranty sub-forum. I haven't seen too many complaints yet, but frankly there are not a lot of owners with much mileage on the car at this point. I remember seeing some posts about glitches with Comfort Access, and problems with window fit. And some complaints about a "lurch" or surge in the auto transmission cars.

Someone in here mentioned that his steering wheel was not aligned correctly, so driving straight required the wheel to be off center towards one side. Another mentioned that his engine start button did not work a couple of times.

I have two problems. One is resolved. The other is minor that I haven't taken it in yet.
1) Passenger side window did not go all the way down. 2) Interior panel rattles when audio speaker hits certain frequency. Either that or the speaker is blown. (And no I did not crank my stereo)

1) Scratched paint; likely a VPC issue, Oxnard is notorious for scratching paint.
2) Broken third brake-light lens; possibly a build/design issue. 3) Some interior trim rattles; definitely a build/design issue. 4) Open-door chime changes frequency; faulty out-sourced electrics/build issue. 5) Windows wouldn't go all the way down at first, sorted itself out, now the windows do go all the way down, but, there is wind noise at freeway speed; faulty out-sourced electrics/build issue. Having said all that, I enjoy this car more than any other I have owned.

after 1000km the sideskirts have to be repainted. But it goes on warranty, and they will have film on them after to ceep it from happening again. Other than that its perfect.

The Z4’s had the cracked third brake light issue. My Z4 did not have the problem but others did.

When I got my '99 M3, it did not have this issue, but some other people I knew in my local area had that same problem. The dealer should align it for free, I think.

I have an occasional random tire pressure light that comes on in yellow then turns right off on cold tires. The dealer said it was just low pressures but it is still there.

Wind noise, passenger window, and mostly not working Sirius.
As for the Sirius, I have non-iDrive premium audio and FL7/Ipod. My Sirius goes out (gets removed from audio options) by my ipod getting plugged in, I'm pretty sure. I think I may be hitting a bug in the programming, and not a loose connection. |

The only problem I'm having is a ticking in the engine compartment at idle. It's in the shop right now for that.
Oh... and one other thing... I think I got the first 135 replacement windshield in the US. Didn't even have 1K mikes and got a rock thrown up... craaaaack... So annoying. |

Paint defect on panel below passenger side door. Detailing guy says it appears water got on the paint during the drying process and then clear coat was applied over the top of it. It basically looks like light yellowish water spots that won't come off. Oh so pretty, especially after a 12 week wait. I must have done something very bad in another life. Shit.

my wheel popped and my rim bent because i hit a pothole (this is a bmw specific problem - with my g35 i hit potholes non-stop and it never happened in 3 years. in my corvette with runflats i hit potholes non-stop for 5 years, only happened once; on the 135 happened within like a month)
my car had a checkengine light - they saw a few codes didn't fix anything. long cranks. i feel lag when i try to accelerate in 4th from 2K rpm (my car is pre 29.2 and pre v81. this behavior has been there since day 1). edit: the post below me rminded me of the windnoise (no clear bra) - its far less noise than my vette was (framelss window + t-top) but worse than my g35 with frameless windows was. took it to the dealer they said "within spec."

Just had a new clutch plate and flywheel fitted under warranty at almost 6000 miles. Plate had some high spots on it, and would not engage smoothly, especially after some enthusiastic driving.
Plastic storage bin on top of dash doesn't open when you press the catch. No biggie, could be that it expands when hot? After work on clutch, stop/start isn't working. Back into dealers next week. Wind noise - although no worse than other frameless door cars I've had.

Those who have the whistling noise, do you have clear bra on your side mirrors?

Interior side-lining on passenger side (at the bottom, lining below the doors) not fitted properly and continues to pop out. I push it back in with my foot, but it slips back out frequently
