Airbag Warning Sticker Removal - Sun Visors

I hate those yellow and white Airbag warning stickers on the visors. This evening I removed mine and though not easy to do, you can manage it and it looks so much better with them gone.

You will need a Denatured Alcohol and a fair amount of it (get a quart form the paint or hardware store) and a decent microfiber towel. Saturate the towel with alcohol and begin a vigorous rubbing on one corner of the sticker. Keep that area 'wet' and eventually the sticker will start to degrade and you can rub it off with the microfiber towel. Its slow work, and the sticker is more like paint, actually. but it WILL come off. Driver's side took 15 minutes on my 135, but the passenger side was far more stubborn and that one took 45 minutes.

Zero damage to your visors.

Did it leave a visible area where the sticker was?

This^

Those airbag stickers are everywhere even in the door jam, they don't bother me.

Yes, please post pictures! I'm curious if this left a dark mark on the visor or if it was the same color.

I hate those things too.

I used goo gone and it left no permanent mark. The plastic seemed a little expanded for a few days but it shrunk back to the same shape quickly. The stickers trash up our nice cars. The visors look much better without them.

THAT'S SACRILEGE! Are you MAD? Don't you know that BMW put those stickers on there for a REASON?? You might as well pop the roundel off your hood or put an ///m sticker in your window.

Not much to see, just the sticker is gone....but here's a poor photo taken at night with my iPad - gone. No trace if it being there.

And for you guys that think its silly - just keep on staring at yours when you drive. NOW you are going to notice it and think "I can get that off and it doesn't even cost any money to do so". That is, unless you need the nanny sticker to remind you of the safety points.

Did you remove the visors to work on them or do it in place?

I pulled the visors. It takes a bit of soaking and rubbing to get the silly things off and that is much easier with the visors out. It's only a few screws to remove them.

IIRC, I didn't scrub at all. Just removed the visor, placed a paper towel (2 or 3 sheets thick) on top of it, and gently poured a little denatured alcohol over it, then let it soak for a few minutes. Then, I was able to peel the sticker off the visor. No scrubbing necessary.

As someone noted here, the plastic may look a bit distorted when you're done, but it quickly returns to its original shape.

I have done this on every vehicle I have owned thru the years. Hate those stickers specially on a dark color headliner. Have work on every car other than an 2011 Audi Q5.

Instructions:

1. go to your local drug store(Walgreens, Rite aid, etc..) grab a bottle of 91% alcohol. $1.50 or so..

2. Arrive home and remove Visors from car. Lay visors on a flat surface with the warning sticker on top.

3. Cut a paper towel that cover the extend of the warning sticker and soak with the alcohol for 15 MINUTES.

4. At the 7 minutes mark add a little more alcohol. (Remember the spirit of the alcohol evaporates)

5. After 15 minutes remove paper towel to reveal a wrinkle warning sticker.

At this point the sticker would remove most likely in one piece, no rubbing needed or streaching of the vinyl. Clean excess alcohol and treat with your favorite vinyl cleaner.(Just in case)

Re-install visors and enjoy.

Hope this instructions help. Also as a disclaimer at your own risk.

OK.

I used goo gone as it was what I had on hand. Leveled the visors on a table and soaked the "sticker" with the stuff. Let it sit for ~half hour.

Rubbed lightly with a towel and it came right off. No distortion of the vinyl at all.

The only question I have is does anyone know how to get rid of the outer border? Theres a very faint dark line around where the sticker was now. It does not look like faded vinyl.

Overall, much better, even if I cant get the line off, I'll take that over a big yellow and white nanny sticker any day.
