All N55 jb4s have the new G5 board so a used one is the same a buying a new one. The only thing you have to check is if the board has been modified to run ISO.
The charge pipe is always good to have when you increase boost (which you will be doing if you go with a JB4).

i have a 2012 bmw 135i with the n55 as well. I bought this car used. the guy bought it new and had it for three months then traded it for a porsche then I bought it from the porsche dealership in omaha called "Woodhouse" and he put a AFE intake and a exhaust on it, many of my friends think it has a tune because it keeps up dead even with a 07 jb4 335i coupe running on map 8. I cant see any sign of tune, I was wondering how do I tell if I have a tune or not? I'm really hoping it doesnt so I can get the JB4 stage 2 tune for it. any help would be great!!

You can tell if it has a JB4 by pressing the volume down and channel down buttons at the same time. If it is JB4, it would bring up a menu. If it's a piggy back you could look at the ECU. If it's a flashed ECU, probably no way to tell besides putting it on a dyno and see how much power it makes.

sadly I believe my car has a flash ecu . I would buy it if mine wasnt already tuned!! I bought my 2012 used from a guy that had it three months then traded it and I believe he flashed the ecu. how much are you looking to get out of it?
