Ceramic Coating!

Just picked up my car from a local detailer who completed a full 2 step paint correction with a 2 year CQuartz 3.0 ceramic coating!

The results are amazing! I could dive into this paint it is so clean/clear. Id recommend a ceramic coating to any car enthusiast.

Looks wonderful. Same question as above about cost....and also what happens with small rock chips? Do they repair them first? Or just coat over them?

I paid $400, price will depend on brand of coating as well as where you take it.

You want the paint as clean as possible before applying it. Clay bar and paint correction is the way to go. I have a few small rock chips but they just did it over, nothing to major that sticks out. If you have decent chips I'd get them fixed first.

For those of us who are either about $380 shy of the $400, "build not buy" people, or cheap old bastards like me who used to get paid to clean other peoples cars and can't get myself to give someone $400 to clean my car.

I'm cheap too so instead of spending $US400 on this, I spent about $US4 ($A6) on a bottle of ceramic coating from eBay.

Definitely does the job and is easy to apply. Never need to wax the car again.
I have had it on my Pajero Sport for well over a year, and that car is parked outdoors 99.9% of the time since I bought it new.

I've recently joined the 1er club with my 2008 135i e88 and after doing some paint correction myself, added the ebay discount ceramic coating to the 1er too.

Plenty of YouTube videos about how good this stuff is for the money. It is legit too, speaking from experience.

I’ve been researching diy ceramic fo a while. A very well respected detailed and retail shop told me that it worst provide protection against bird dropping.

I don’t see the benefit any longer.

It's not about spending $400 to have someone clean your car. It's spending $400 to have someone spend 12+ hours clay baring and polishing every inch of your paint and get out any imperfections. Making the paint as clean as possible before applying the coating.

I clean my car once a week, this is a whole new level of clean. My car looks brand new again. Nothing about having your car professionally polished and ceramic coated is cheap.

It's a BMW, $400 on a nice detail is the least of my worries lol.

Don't have kids, and make sure the person you marry says "do whatever you want" when it comes to cars. $400 What me worry!

No it doesn't.
I did some basic paint correction myself but obviously if you pay someone to to it you'll get a professional job.

I bought a claybar and polishing machine, got some polish and still spent magnitudes less than less than $400.

Ceramic coating is amazing. Had it done on my 911 and LOVE the results on both paint protection film covered surfaces and non protected surfaces. Only thing I'm not sure of is how long it will really last but I can tell you if it can last two years I'll reapply it onto that car and every car I own from now until I die.
