Hey everyone!

I had my battery run extremely low in my N54, so instead of replacing it, I charged it and put it back in. While the battery was low, I got a check engine maintenance required light. I bought a diagnostic tool and got a string of codes.

- should I register it as a new battery considering I charged it?

- if I clear all codes, will the car throw another code for the problems that really are a problem?

Any help on this is appreciated!

Only register it if you installed a new battery.

Just clear the faults and keep driving.

I agree. The only thing I would add is you need to know why the battery got so drained. If you know that and no fix is required, it is totally recommended to just clear and see if anything reappears. BMWs do all sorts of goofy things when the voltage gets even slightly low. Codes it posts at that time are not believable.

If you have a volt meter, you can easily check the alternator. If the voltage goes above 13.2 with the engine running, the alternator is working. Typically it will be about 14V.
