RT660 255/35/18 front fitment?
The RT660 tires that I ordered came in last week. Comparing the width with MSS, it is almost 3/4' wider if not more. These tires are wide. I recall seeing someone on this forum mentioned that 255/35/18 rubs a little if used as front tires. I plan to use these 255/35/18s as front tires for my 128i. Currently, my car is completely stock since I bought it a week ago. So, no suspension mods or camber plate yet. These tires will be mounted on Apex EC-7 8.5x18 offset 45.
Eventually, I will do the suspension mods. But I want to track the car as is just to baseline it first. Question: will they rub? Do I have to roll the fenders? Do I need to wheel spacers. I haven't mounted these tires yet just in case they don't fit. If not, I will use them for the rear and buy a set of 245/40/18 instead. For those who have used RT660 255/35/18 fronts, please comment. thanks |

You will need large camber (-2.5) at least. You will need spacers. You will need narrow coil overs (not conical springs like stock suspension).
You will likely still rub with all of the above. |

I'm running 255 square on 17s, never tried it with stock suspension. RT660s are way wider than any of my previous tires so I had to carefully select parts (spring and spacer) to go with my struts along with a lot of camber. 245 square was much easier to fit.

Given that I have stock suspension setup, do you even think 245/35/28 will fit. Maybe I should go with 235/40/18 for now and wait until I have the suspension done and go with 247/40/17 square configuration like many folks on this forum. These rt660 are wide.

Just had my tire shop mount my newly purchased RT660's and when I compared them to my RS4's they are 0.70" wider per tire.
They are both 245/40/17. I have not tried to install them yet on the car but my RS4's were barely fitting so I don't think these will fit. I have stock suspension with just camber plates and 2.7 deg camber front and 2.3 in rear alignment. I will try to install them over the weekend......... |
