Great, I think this is much better than staying at the Stelvio again.

Yes, I think everyone will enjoy a new adventure this year. And the Sella mountain range is such an Utopian place. I really like the area to drive in. So many passes and such natural beauty in those mountains.

TRIP: Itinerary and map of the provisional Sella Ronda trip scheduled for Saturday Aug 30, 2014.

CONCEPT: it's an epic 5-hour trip with start and arrival at "Hotel Bellavista" in Canazei/Pecol (5h11m - 221 km - manageable with one fuel tank) covering 10 mountain passes of the Sella Ronda area. It is conceived that way that no roads are doubled (except for the Passo Campolongo for convenience reasons). With a big group of cars, that trip might likely take up to 7 hours instead of 5. Sufficient time to take breaks.

WANT MORE ? Once arriving back at the hotel, those with still enough "mountain pass thirst" to be quenched, can still go for another ± 75 min full "Sella Ronda" evening trip, but driving it clockwise this time (Passo Sella (Northbound) | Passo Gardena (Eastbound) | Passo Campolongo (Southbound) | Passo Pordoi (Westbound - back to the hotel)).

ITINERARY (mountain passes): Hotel Bellavista (Canazei/Pecol) | Passo Pordoi (Pordoijoch) | Passo Campolongo | Passo Valparola | Passo Falzarego | Passo di Giau | Passo San Pellegrino | Passo di Fedaia | Passo Campolongo | Passo Gardena (Grödnerjoch) | Passo Sella (Sellajoch) | Hotel Bellavista (Pecol/Canazei)
Optional for those who still want more (eventually after dinner): Hotel Bellavista (Pecol/Canazei) | Passo Sella (Sellajoch) | Passo Gardena (Grödnerjoch) | Passo Campolongo | Passo Pordoi (Pordoijoch) | Hotel Bellavista (Pecol/Canazei)

DETAILS (please note that given the overlap on the map of points (A)+(S), (B)+(P) and (C)+(Q), start looking for "S" (Hotel = Start and Arrival), then "P", then "Q" and subsequently D/E/F/G/H/I/J/K/L/M/N/O/P/Q/R/S).

(A) = Hotel Bellavista (Canazei/Pecol)
(A)-(B) = Hotel (Canazei/Pecol) to Arabba (Passo Pordoi)
(B)-(C) = Arabba to Corvara (Passo Campolongo)
(C)-(D) = Corvara to La Villa
(D)-(E) = La Villa to Lagazuoi (Passo Valparola)
(E)-(F) = Lagazuoi to Pocol (part of Passo Falzarego)
(F)-(G) = Pocol to Selva (Passo di Giau)
(G)-(H) = Selva (Belluno) to Caprile
(H)-(I) = Caprile to Alleghe
(I)-(J) = Alleghe to Cencenighe Agordine
(J)-(K) = Cencenighe Agordine to Falcade
(K)-(L) = Falcade to Moena (San Pellegrino Pass)
(L)-(M) = Moena to Canazei
(M)-(N) = Canazei to Fedaia Lake (Passo Fedaia)
(N)-(O) = Fedaia Lake to Saviner di Laste
(O)-(P) = Saviner di Laste to Arabba
(P)-(Q) = Arabba to Corvara (Campolongo Pass)
(Q)-(R) = Corvara to Wolkenstein (Gardena Pass)
(R)-(S) = Wolkenstein to Hotel (Canazei/Pecol) (Sellapass)
(S) = Hotel Bellavista (Canazei/Pecol)

Sella Ronda trip scheduled for Sat/Sunday Aug 30 & 31st, 2014

@Artemis WoW! Thanks for putting that route together. It looks like we will have a very nice weekend ahead of us. :happyman:

Everyone should probably buy fuel at that Shell gas station we stopped at in Castelrotto (39040). I believe it's the only gas station in the Sella area. Its also nice bc it's a Shell and they have 100 octane V-power. Most Italian gas stations only have 95 octane "super" no SuperPlus unless you find a Shell.

Also... most Italian gas stations have no attendants/people... you use a CC or cash in a machine to "pay at the pumps". Some machines are "glitchy" so I would have some (cash)euros with you. The fuel price in Italy will be over two euros per liter. Plan accordingly.

Stazione Di Servizio Shell (Shell),

As I didn't see any hatchbacks viewing your great fotos...
Are hatches like my M135i welcome?

If so I'm very interested in participating - just have to check my schedule end of august.

Dack, I'm bringing my dad with me again, so I'm a +1

Any news regarding hotel cost? Or the pre-trip (cost, who will join)?

No problem with bringing your dad. We all liked him last year.

Our Hotel the Bella Vista with be very reasonable. Something like ~50 euros per person, per day. That would include dinner and breakfast. I am waiting to get confirmation of this price - but that is what the owner told me when I saty there a few weeks ago.(I did a little scouting trip to Sella). Normal rate is ~65 euros pp, per day. Only thing extra we would need to pay for are drinks. The hotel has plenty of parking and is in a very secluded mountain area. It's quite breath taking.

The pre-trip is being decided now. Talk to Rudi for more info - I thought he was keeping you "in the loop". We will most likely start on Wednesday for our trip South. I think our hotels will be in the 60 to 85 euro rate(s) price range, pp.

This year's Sella adventure promises to be AWESOME!!!

Standard rates of Hotel Bellavista (Pecol/Pordoi/Canazei) in the period of our visit = 72 EUR (half board).
From 1 September onwards it is 62 EUR:

That's correct Luc. But the Opa and Oma who own the hotel(?) told me that they could probably do a rate of ~50 euros pp. I sent them an email a few days ago. I will call them this week to confirm again. Even IF we have to pay 72 euros... its still a good deal. But I am sure we will get a pretty good deal.

We will be staying at the Bellavista Hotel in Canazei, Trentino, Italy all weekend. Its in the middle of the Sella Mountain range - and I think it will make for an ideal base camp.

I am still waiting to hear back from the hotel regarding the price and how we should go about reserving the rooms. I will get an update for us soon - next week.

Perfect, Thx David!
Do you already know which drive are you going to do on Friday on the way to the hotel?

Probably I can join the bunch on my way from Munich to Trentino?

@markymark666: Are you also heading from Munich to Trentino on Friday or are you going on Saturday? Maybe we can also team up to drive together

Chris - I think we will be driving from Solden, Austria - Timmelsjoch (Italian: Passo del Rombo) and over down to Sella and our Hotel. When I know the exact route I will let you know. Or just follow our FB page on Sella.
